RoryPlays takes you through the different kinds of gameplay experiences you can choose in Anthem.

Starting in Fort Tarsis, you’ll choose from four primary gameplay options, depending on how much time you have and what rewards you might be searching for:

  • Missions – Story-based encounters where you’ll experience the core narrative of the game.
  • Contracts – Help allies and factions to achieve their goals or solve specific problems. Occasionally you’ll receive a Legendary Contract which is both more difficult to complete and far more rewarding.
  • Freeplay – Freely roam through the world of Anthem, encountering creatures, enemies, and more. You’ll encounter world events, be able to gather resources, find treasure, and explore.

Blessious takes you through the basics of the game’s matchmaking system and how to earn the most rewards for you and your friends in Anthem™.

Playing with Friends

It’s easy to join friends in missions or Strongholds: just go to “Social” and “Invite Player” then “Friends,” hover over their names and press invite. Once everyone’s joined you’re ready to head out on your next expedition. You can also join friends who are already playing, choose the “Reinforce Friend” option, and select the mission or Stronghold they’re currently exploring.

No Friends Online? No Problem

Looking for people to play with? Click “Social” and “Invite Player” and then the “Recommended” option to bring up a list of suggested players. Again, hover over their names and press invite to get your new squad started. You can also choose “Quickplay” from the “Expedition” screen, to be se...

MTashed takes you through unlocking blueprints, gathering materials, and generally optimizing your crafting in Anthem™.

Unlocking Blueprints

Using gear and weapons to complete Challenges will give you direct access to blueprints. These blueprints fall into the following rarity categories:

  • Common
  • Uncommon
  • Rare
  • Epic
  • Masterwork

The Challenges you’ll need to complete to unlock each blueprint will depend upon its rarity. So, for example, an Uncommon weapon blueprint may require you to kill 50 enemies, but a Rare one may require you to take out 25 elite enemies. As the rarity increases, so does the difficulty of the Challenge you’ll need to complete.

If you want to unlock the best blueprints for the weapon you love, you definitely can, but until you increase your level you probably won’t have access to...

There’s nothing quite like heading into battle in a javelin that shows off your unique style. It’s easy to spend hours in the Forge making small tweaks and adjustments to get the look you want just right. While you’ve already got access to a huge selection of personalization options, we wanted to let you know about other ways to secure vanity items.

By subscribing to Origin Access or EA Access you’ll receive a special vanity item reward, and you’ll be able to use your 10% subscriber discount to purchase in-game currency called Shards*. Let’s start with the subscriber reward and how to claim it.

So what is this special vanity item reward? As a subscriber, an Anthem™ “In All Directions” javelin decal is all yours and it can be used on any of your javelins. Starting March 26, head to the Store to collect your reward. That’s all there is to it. Want more details...

Hey everyone – Chris King (Gameplay Design Director) and Darrin McPherson (Lead Gameplay Producer) here.  First off, thanks to everyone for your continued support and feedback regarding Anthem.  We hope you are enjoying the recent updates to the loot system.

With our first batch of loot updates wrapped up, we thought it a good opportunity to dig into some details and talk about what we are working on next.

First off, let’s walk through how inscriptions work.  Inscriptions are random modifiers that are applied to each loot item upon creation.  Here is an example of some inscriptions on an Avenging Herald –a Masterwork Heavy Pistol (and a really good one at that)!

  • The tethering timer for missions has been increased. Players should now have more time to catch up to their Squad before seeing a countdown timer.
  • The Swarm Tyrant encounter in the Tyrant Mine Stronghold can no longer be reset by the entire Squad exiting to the main menu and rejoining the session in progress.
  • Players are no longer able to reopen chests that had already been looted in Strongholds.

In addition to the above updates we have deployed the following hot fixes:

  • Items will no longer have inscriptions on them that are not appropriate for that specific item. NOTE: This only applies to items obtained after the patch. Items obtained prior to the patch will still have the same inscriptions they had before.
  • Masterwork crafting costs have been reduced from 25 -> 15 Masterwork Embers. The amount of plants, metal and parts required for crafting a Masterwork item have also been reduced.

MTashed walks you through triggering this important mission in Anthem™ and gives you some insight on how to complete it successfully.

After finishing “Meeting with Corvus,” you’ll need to speak with Tassyn, so make sure to do that to continue the story. This action will unlock Strongholds and, after that happens, Faye will request that you speak with her. It’s recommended you do this immediately rather than waiting because it officially begins the Tombs of the Legionnaires mission. By doing it in this order, your upcoming efforts in Freeplay ...

We have deployed a fix that should address the issue some players were facing when trying to personalize their javelins. After personalizing in the Forge your settings should hold now. This fix also addresses the issue where some players were unable to craft the Dawn Shield during the crit path missions.

We have temporarily disabled the special ability on the component piece “Gunslinger's Mark” as the buff granted by the component would stack much higher than intended. The special ability on this component piece will be turned back on once a full fix can be implemented.
