At some moment in early 2013 I needed art for an animal for this game I was making. So I opened up Photoshop. It was a western-themed game, so I traced out this buffalo-looking thing.

I'll call it... muffalo. I thought. Sounds stupid. Just a temp name. It amuses me, at least.

I made the body. But buffalo heads are kind of complicated. So I just used the Photoshop oval tool to make an oval and shaped the chin a bit. The eyes? Half-circles. Because on the Simpsons when someone looks sleepy they shape the eyes like that.

I'll need to get a real artist to do this when I have any money, I thought.

In a final moment of creative flair, I made him blue.

Why not? It'll be fun. Blue.

Now he's on a mug.

@DanStapleton They don't need to be fun in the giddy lighthearted sense, I think, but they need to be compelling.

I think the TV show comparison is better than movies. The Wire is like 50 hours, and few would call it 'fun'... but it's compelling and bingeable.

@besubtropical For an example of a game MVP, compare RimWorld 1.0 with the Kickstarter version released in 2013. The concept of MVP applies very well to games and is the fulcrum of a development process.

@besubtropical I hesitate to give any advice because I really don't know your specific situation. It's good you're reading the book though!

You can play those prototypes if you buy RimWorld DRM-free though :) I think there are YouTube videos of them too.

@KailanWalker It's general anasthetic, which typically doesn't stop pain at all. It just knocks you unconscious so you never feel it.

@KailanWalker All mood effects are suspended while a pawn is unconscious so in some sense it does.
