You still have leftover resources since Dwarves! As a player myself, I always advise you to stock up guest resources before taking all down, so you have resources if you need more roads before researching the next ones. It is a common practice, and your resources will always be safe

Different buildings have different queuing times, depending on their productions. There are a variety of times, even more across the guest races. This is to offer a huge array of times to fit with the different player's preferences.

Some players might choose a 4-day production, for example, if they have to travel for work for three days, for example, often, with less than a day notice for some corporate jobs. Does this error persist? Tap Control+F5 when you see that (or close the tab completely and re-open.) Usually, this fixes the issue. However, if it continues to give this error and you can't log in, please submit a ticket.

Try to settle a space aside for your guest races. Over time, you will need a bigger settlement, but you will also gain provinces through completing provinces, and in your research tree. A little example from a dwarven city:



You can see how the player connected the road to the Dwarven Portal Level 4, and everything else is connected via tracks. For a starters, this player might have enough, but as you go through chapters, you are going to need a lot more space!

The good thing is that you will manage to always have the "settlement area".

You will find a quest that the Dwarves announce they will take all their stuff with them. When you change to fairies, you will see fairies resources. However, while you can't see your prior settlement resources (copper and granite in your case), you will still hold these. They really don't make a difference whether you have more or less of them.

For some roads, you will need settlement resources, for others you don't. You might only need them if you are in fairies, gain a new province, and you prefer to use Dwarven Street tiles (500 granite, 10 copper per tile, plus ... Read more
