Most of our dev budget is going towards player-v-player interactions at the moment. It's definitely a fascinating subject, though. I wish I had the time and domain knowledge to mess around with it.

Adding features that require new UI is actually a lot more difficult than tweaking Sparky's match parameters. That said, manabase testing is something I have personally used when building decks online before Arena, and I can see some utility in adding it. No promises of when (or if) we would work on something like that, but I will put it on the design backlog.

Cool idea! I have worked on her A.I. a bit and I can give you some insight.

The current version of Sparky needs to be taught how to use each card individually. We've done some work this year to make this easier, and more robust, so we could better make the Color Challenge games - but adding new cards to her decks usually involves a bit of work. This mostly revolves around telling her what are the legal targets. The bigger problem for your suggested feature: there are a lot of cards we don't use because she has no idea how to use them.

I would like to have the ability to "test" a limited deck against her. Especially, if I'm working with a wonky mana base. I've seen a few threads asking for that so I put it on our backlog. It will have to be costed and prioritized with everything else, but I hope it's simple to add. If it does get implemented, more than likely, Sparky will just be using her normal 60 card decks.

Hopefully, that answers your question!

We have a fix for this issue coming in the next update. Here's what you can do in the meantime.

  1. Add another Zirda to your deck (you don't need to craft it)
  2. Put that Zirda in your companion slot
  3. Save the deck
  4. Reopen it and take out the extra Zirda from your sideboard

Hopefully, that helps!

Hello Azrael (that is my cat's name too btw),

We have a fix for this issue coming in the next update. Here's what you can do in the meantime.

  1. Add another Gyruda to you deck
  2. Put that Gyruda in your companion slot
  3. Save the deck

A bit of background: I've been doing the DailyUI 100 Day Challenge, and today was to build a profile page. My mind immediately went to Arena's profile page, since it basically doesn't have much function at all, so I decided to try my hand at reimagining what a better page would be like. I'm pretty aware that the buttons/font look pretty generic, but this is mostly just a rough draft and wanted to see if there's other features you might want in the page.

My main focus was to incorporate stats into the page, since I always thought it was strange that you'd have to use a 3rd party app just to get some valuable information about your win/loss and deck matchup stats, especially if you're particularly competitive. There's a few other elements I'm considering adding to this concept, like a row of decks to select for deck-specific stats, but how would you want to see the profile page changed?

Cool concept!

I wish I could share with you all of my mockups for this page. It's one of the places I'd really like to add more functionality to in the future. Good luck with your 100 Day Challenge!

Since you are taking notes, there is something I've noticed: once a deck has been set for a certain format (example: Traditional Standard), the dropdown menu stops working and you can't change it anymore, for example: changing it to Historic to make a version of the deck that can be used in a different format.

I hope you can look into this. Other than that, I think the deck builder UI is in the best state it has ever been and the new options for filtering are great. On that, a suggestion: maybe a button that shows the advanced commands that can be used in the search bar?

Thanks a lot for reading and for your work. Cheers!

Thanks for the feedback a-polo.

I am unable to get that dropdown menu stuck in the live client. If there is a specific order of actions you are doing to get it to happen every time, let me know.

RE: advanced commands button. That's near the top of my list.

Ah, I get you. That information comes from deck format, which doesn't exist in the collection view at this moment.

I will put it on a ticket get it on our backlog of QOL improvements. The most likely way I can do it quickly is with an advanced text search option like "format = standard" or "legal = standard".

Thanks, ShueiHS!

We've been trying to get some QOL improvements in every patch. They're not always something everyone notices, but I'm glad you enjoyed this one.

I take a lot of notes from what people say in threads like these and try to improve things where I can. Thanks for the feedback!

Try this:

  1. Click the Advanced Filters button
  2. Click the diamond next to "Standard"
  3. All of the sets underneath it should light up
  4. Click "OK"

That should filter the collection to all Standard format sets.

There is indeed a bug when trying to find cards with a hyphen in the name like [Izoni, Thousand-Eyed] in the game right now.

A fix for this issue will be in today's update.

Hello hrmello, Welcome to MTG Arena!

If you want to just play a casual game, "Play" mode is the place to go. Depending on the format of your deck, it will automatically match you against other Standard or Historic decks. It's also *usually* not as competitive as Ranked mode - we match players on their play history and the strength of cards in their deck - but we don't stop people from playing whatever they want.

Thanks. While this did work for me, I finished all of the color challenges last night, after which a "Waiting for new quest.." "Earn a new deck tomorrow" marker appeared in the interface with a timer. However, as of tonight right now, the timer shows 0:00 and nothing has changed. I don't seem to be able to continue with those quests.

edit: should note that last night I unlocked the Gruul Clans deck.

edit2: do regular quests no longer work in bot match mode? I'm not making progress on my summon creatures quest at all by playing bot matches.

If you do not receive the next quest after 20 hours (restart to be sure), you should contact support. They should be able to get you back on track. We will be working to make sure this isn't happening to others.

Re: Quest progress in bot match. After the Color Challenges are finished, you need to play with other people to get quest progress. This was true in the previous New Player Experience as well, but we have expanded the modes that give quest progress to include direct challenge and historic play. The play queue will try to match you with other new players (and similar deck strengths), so that might be the best place to go next for quest progress.

Hopefully, that helps!

Hello! You are probably in this state because you did not complete all of the previous first-time player experience.

If you want to get back all of your previously unlocked modes without playing through any of the Color Challenge content, go to the Gear icon at the top right of the screen, click "Account", and then click the "Unlock Play Modes" button.

Let me know if that doesn't help!

You may have not finished the previous first-time player experience, so you were reset to the start of the Color Challenge.

To get back all of your previously unlocked modes (without playing through the Color Challenge content) go to the Gear icon at the top right of the screen, click "Account", and then click the "Unlock Play Modes" button.

Sorry I didn't catch this comment earlier. Let me know if you still have problems.

Figuring out a way to hide cards that aren't collectable by opening packs (or at least mark them somehow in the UI) has been on my to-do list for a while. Sadly, the data isn't redily available in the deck editor. Not sure when we will be able to make it happen.

Other than that, there is nothing else we are planning to add to the advanced search.

Here's a forum post that details the advanced search features:

I'm currently working on a way to surface these in game, so stay tuned!
