External link →I would loooove an explanation from an engineer on what went wrong here, though we probably won't get one sadly :(
In 4.04 there was a fix for an issue where some placements of trapwires wouldn't actually trigger the trap. But the fix for that issue involved doing some extra checks to make sure the trap hits enemies.
Turns out there are some conditions (like that placement in hookah) where that new logic breaks down and ends up doing way too much work trying to check for enemies, which crashed the server.
TL;DR - Fixed one bug with trapwires, caused another.
