I agree about weaves and I think most people do, they’re not fun. Mostly because they’re not random, scripted missions seem so strange in a game like V2. Where people love the randomness of the Ai director. I’m still salty about them… I really thought they were going to be a modifier for the base maps. Where we could play them backwards with a guaranteed boss fight at the end.

Some of the stuff he’s complaining about has been solved already or I personally think he’s dead wrong about. Weave crafting too grindy? I’d love for the weave crafting to be ported to the main game. I’d personally love it if it was based off player lvl instead of essence. But even with essence, I’ve hardly done any weaves, solo’d 1-24 and I have 500k essence. You get like 1k just for doing a base game map.

Still, I think he missed the mark with his video. If there’s one thing we can never forgive fatshark for, and I personally won’t. It’s the fact that Genevieve Dieudonné is not coming as a playable character. #disappointing #refund

I didn’t hear him mention Genevieve Dieudonné even once.

He did mention that it was fixed. His point when bringing that up is that he’s baffled that it ever got past the drawing board to implement such a needlessly grindy system, and believes something is wrong somewhere in the development process for the game that shows a blatant disconnect from what the devs think the players want/need, and what the players actually want/need.
It’s one of the overall points of the video, and something that has been talked about by several people.

@mashmonster, @Rebel, no need for this bickering, please!

Excuse me good sir? Weird vampire lady? I presume you meant to type “Saviour of the emperor, blessed by Sigmars holy light, the guardian of the realms of man, Geneviève Dieudonné”.

Yes, she’s actually the one who helped killed the big bad vampire lore. And during this time in the lore she’s actually in Drachenfels delivering a message.

Not any contact, we know Sienna learned under Gormann. That’s something. He was a pretty big deal.

Either way I don’t think it’s an issue on Games Workshop part, but simply Fatshark having no desire to get our characters involved with the big players, at least so far. Let’s not forget that we’re extremely low on the power scale, meeting one of the named characters is a big deal simply because of how absurdly broken almost anyone with a named mention is.

Cough Drachenfels wasn’t a vampire. I know Castle Drachenfels is the closest thing to Dracula’s Castle we have save for Vlad’s Castle Drakenhof, but Drachenfels wasn’t a vampire. He was simply a great necromancer, and one of the oldest human beings to still roam the world, possibly from the same time or before Sigmar Heldenhammer.

Doesn’t she actually have his memories or something weird like that?

I mean, idk, I haven’t actually read Genevieve’s books. All I know is that she was there and she helped, and that Drachenfels wasn’t a vampire.

Nah. Look at total war: warhammer and how they keep pulling and pulling named characters from all over the place, adding and changing things as needed (all with the approval of GW, granted, but their complete creative liberty otherwise). Books, novels, army books, small paragraphs in a goddamn white dwarf magazine. If they want to, Creative Assembly talks to GW, they discuss how to best do it, and they do it.

What could be the case (and I’m not sure, only game devs that have worked with GW would know) is that you need to purchase a bigger license for that.

From what I’ve heard/read, part of the reason why there’s so many warhammer video games is because GW has this thing where you purchase the license exclusively for what you need, not for the entire IP. This is cheaper for the developer, because you just buy what you need, but if you eventually want to do more and it goes out of your license, you need to buy the license for that other thing, too.
Tis just what I’ve heard, however.

Sure, but then you have things like specific characters getting their story fleshed out a lot. Like, for example, Luthor Harkon got a ton of extra stuff added to his backstory, that’s more than just a what if or what happened. His existance was changed, because CA felt like using him and decided what was already there wasn’t enough.
The key here is that whenever they want to add something or edit something lore-wise, they get in touch with GW and work it out in a back and forth until both parties are satisfied with the result.
So GW is definitely very, very protective of the IP, but that doesn’t necessarily means they’re unflexible, things can be arranged and discussed until change is ready and approved.

Admittedly I haven’t been able to read through all 53 comments but I will be locking this to prevent more arguing. I’d also like to say we are aware of this video and appreciate their input.
