Hmm okay, thank you for confirming.
I’ve raised this issue with the development team, and I’ll be back in touch when I have any updates.
In the meantime, we have released a new PC hotfix this morning - can you ask your friend to try again after downloading this and let me know if anything changes?
Thank you!
Gotcha, thank you for confirming this - I’ll let the team know!
Also, it would be helpful to view your friends launcher log (if one is being generated). Could you please ask them to provide this if possible?
To do so, please see:
Okay, thanks for checking! It’s genuinely very strange. I’m still waiting to hear back from other developers for any input. However, in the meantime, trying a reinstall is a good shout!
If the issue persists, could they also try reinstalling on a different drive?
Sorry to hear this I’ve escalated this with some of our launcher-savvy developers. Due to the time of day now, I may not hear back from them until tomorrow - but I’ll be back in touch as soon as I have any updates.
Thank you for your patience.
@Valorean sorry for the delay! Our developers suspect that the issue is likely to be .NET Framework related still. They recommended for your friend to download version 4.5.2, here:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=42642
Also, they have asked what OS version your friend uses?
@Valorean Thanks for the info!
The developer investigating would also like to know which .NET Framework your friend currently has installed. To find this, please ask them to do the following:
Get-ChildItem ‘HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP’ -Recurse | Get-ItemProperty -Name Version -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue | Where-Object { $_.PSChildName -match ‘^(?!S)\p{L}’} | Select-Object PSChildName, Version
dotnet --list-runtimes
After doing this, we have also prepared a new launcher build with a small change. Can your friend please try switching to the beta_launcher
and let us know if there’s any improvement?
Please let us know how this all goes
Thank you @Valorean! I’ve passed this is on internally and I’ll be back in touch again when I have any update.
@Valorean, apologies for the delay - I’m still waiting for a response from our launcher developer. I’ll continue to chase and let you know when I hear from them.
Thank you for your continued patience!
@Valorean, the launcher developer has told me they are out of suggestions unfortunately though based on the screenshots you have shared previously, they have asked how the launcher behaves for your friend for Darktide (MS Store)?
I’m aware that the launchers between both games share many elements, so I assume this is why they are asking about Darktide and how this launcher is behaving.
@Valorean, thanks the info! This has given our developer a bit of a lead.
They are currently working on a potential fix that we can push to the beta_launcher later for your friend to test. I’ll let you know once this is available for your friend to try
Super, thank you! I’ll pass this on internally and be back in touch soon!
@Valorean, we have another update on the beta_launcher to try.
Firstly, please can you ask your friend to do the following -
Ensure Steam is run without Administrator permission
-1. Right-click the desktop Steam.exe icon
-2. Select ‘Properties’
-3. Select the ‘Compatability’ tab
-4. Make sure the ‘Run this program as administrator’ checkbox is not selected
-5. Select ‘OK’
Delete the launcher folder in the Vermintide 2 directory, here:
\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Warhammer Vermintide 2
Open Steam and verify integrity of game files
-1. Right-click Vermintide 2 in your Steam library sidebar
-2. Select ‘Properties’
-3. Select the ‘Local Files’ tab
-4. Select the ‘Verify Integrity of Game Files’ button
-5. When complete, close and reopen Steam
Launch Vermintide 2 using the beta_launcher
Please let me know how they get on.
Ah okay thanks for the update again. I’ll let the developer know and wait to see if there’s any further things they can suggest or we can try.
Apologies for the wait @Valorean, I haven’t received a response yet, though I have nudged the development team a further time. Hopefully there may be something else we can try I’ll be in touch as soon as I hear back.
In the meantime, if your friend is able to try reinstalling Steam, and then a clean reinstallation of Vermintide 2 this may well be worth trying - and if this fails it’s another potential solution we can then rule out.
Thanks for the update! Sorry to hear this still hasn’t helped it’s a very unusal issue!
Unfortunately, our launcher-developer doesn’t have any further suggestions at this time. Though I’ll keep in contact with them and let you know if they find anything else we can try.
Your friend could try restoring his PC, though I appreciate this is quite a length to go to! If they do try this, please let me know this goes!
