The B-17E/L began production 80 years ago. Previous B-17 models suffered from insufficient defense from rear attacks. The E variant was given a dorsal, tail, and remote-sighted belly turret with the E/L variant upgrading to a manned ball turret in the belly.

In 1949, 73 years ago, the Caernarvon first appeared. As a response to the Soviet IS-3, the UK required a new tank with heavy armor and a 120 mm gun. However, as no such weapon was developed yet, the first Caernarvon consisted of a new hull mated with a Centurion Mk 2 turret.
