I've never heard anything on the topic, though I started playing World of Warships seriously in mid-late April 2019.

This sounds like what is said when we announce a "Closed Testing" DevBlog. We're trying something out and it might or might not work. Stuff tested like that is often in a concept phase and being evaluated to see if further development is warranted. The lack of followup would argue that it was not persued further.

As I said, I haven't heard anything about it.
