The sun previously followed a Geocentric model. In other words, the planet was the center of the universe, with the sun following a predefined path around that with only an angle against the horizon being changed.

This became considerably harder to maintain, at the same time as providing additional functionality. For example, the location of skybox objects such as Jupiter when on Europa, or Earth when on the Moon - were completely wrong and totally in contrast to what would make even a modicum of sense in real life.

So we have moved to a simulated Heliocentric model, where the sun is the center, and bodies in the orbit around that following Kepler's Laws of Planetary motion.

Not only does this allow us to do a lot of cool things, it also solves a *massive* amount of bugs and problems with our existing skybox objects. This somewhat parallels real life, where it became increasingly hard to justify the geocentric model - with very elaborate and complex exp... Read more

The international markings pack was based entirely on sales order, with New Zealand only added because it is where the game is added.

Please remember we typically lose money so we do need to have a chance to recoup costs for DLCs and the game.

If we can make back the cost of making it, we will be able to add more uniforms

P. S. You actually can release 3D model template (or a couple of them), with template textures and instructions on how to do it, so I can add it on my own.
That’s actually a fantastic idea. I will have to make a system to load the textures, but this should absolutely be possible.

Nevertheless, we will try to expand the pack as time and cost allow.

A great idea thank you!

Yes the sun position will be different through the “year” of the body you are on. It will affect solar irradiance, following the inverse square law based on distance from the sun.

We are looking at extending this to more season changes as well

The old system caused a lot of desync issues in multiplayer, and baked a lot of bugs into worlds for both single and multiplayer.

If we fixed a bug in the world data for the Moon, for example, it would not propagate through to your custom world save.

Now the game save records an ID of the world to use, and looks that world data up. So if we fix a bug with the Moon, that propagates through to your save.

Now instead of trying to send all the data to clients when they join a game, we can just tell clients to find world "Moon" and load that. This solves the desync issues and dramatically reduces the download size required to join a game.

if you type:
orbit view into the console, you will see orbital simulation details

if you type
orbit debug you will enable debug keys. Using the numpad up/down, you can change latitude, and left/right will change your longitude, which will change how the sun rises and sets.

Note now the sun will be positioned based on the position of your planet in its stellar system - so that means the motion of the sun will be based on your position using Kepler's Laws of Planetary Motion.

Thanks. Although sadly this really shouldnt be needed. The old system having the menu option was perfectly fine. There was no reason the devs removed it.
We covered why in the steam announcement:

We chose the uniforms based on sales data, and then added NZ because that is where we are based (NZ sales are very low, tiny country).

We would like to do more, but it might get costly. The team does want to, so we will see how sales go for the DLC. We try and be careful because it is easy for us to spend more making the DLC than we make, which then means we are taking money away from developing the game.

Another thing to check is if you have any mods installed.

There may be a bug if you have windows set to some languages. Is your OS set to english? If not, we are working on a fix for that.

The ice crusher is warming up the water, before releasing it. This is to prevent water from refreezing due to phase change in a variety of situations. If you dont have the energy/time to have the ice crusher warm up the water, you can always melt it in a furnace, or in a warm world grid, and collect the melted water. You can also set the logic value "setting" on the ice crusher to control what temperature it wants to target. By default the water will flow out at 20C.

This updated contains changes to data and prefabs that will break some saves. Old rockets have also been removed and will no longer be present in your saves. We have created a branch that will be frozen pre this rocket update: prerocket
Rockets
Rockets are often considered a final goal in Stationeers. However, instead of designing them as an end game necessity, we’ve instead treated them as another system that weaves itself into all the other systems of the game. Rockets support building stations, and stations support building rockets.

Previously, the rockets were simple yet unforgiving. It was hard to tell what was happening, unless you already knew everything about rockets. You functionally had to build the best rocket system from the start, else your rocket was likely to be lost. Lastly, the old rockets fl... Read more

The custom world button will be removed, it shouldn’t still be there on beta.

You can make custom worlds still but they must be as an actual new world mod.

Note this has been changed in beta to be more in line with what you would expect. Creative is now a difficulty. Difficulty settings are also fully moddable

We identified some issues that would cause this, and recently put a major change in to fix some of the causes for this on beta

No problem at all, and you posting helped me fix the bug. Only feedback is it’s great to make a new thread (like this) as then we all see it easier and not think it’s an old bug.

It was a serious bug and important to fix, so thank you for helping us find it!

Note this is a beta bug. Please don’t post the same thing in multiple places and in different threads, that aren’t relevant to the issue. A fix is being deployed to beta now. The beta updates very often, so for a stable experience best to play on main branch

We have been completely redoing rockets, so you will build them completely in a similar way you build other structures. Additionally we have redone and fixed a number of other problems and bugs.

You can read through the coming changelog on discord.

It’s a very big update!
