I run Anno 1800 via steam on windows 10 home
CPU Intel 11600K
RAM G skill ripjaws V 32G 2133mhz 2x8gb sticks
ASUS Strix Z590 E motherboard
EVGA GTX 980Ti classified graphics card
SSD Samsung EVO plus 970 1TB

Changed engine config to DX11 from 12 didnt help.

I log in on steam and click green 'play' button. Button changes to blue and 'playing, Ubisoft Connect loads and says Synchronising Game files.
The screen flashes black load the game screen is trying to load then Ubisoft Connect loads and says Synchronising Game files again disappears and steam button changes from blue colour 'playing' back to green 'play.

I also deleted my saved games no success. I paid $100 for this and not happy. Shouldn't have to pay for something that doesn't work.

My drivers are up to date, as is graphics driver. New motherboard, ssd and CPU.

Hey Luke25totalwar and Kirgos, welcome to the forums! Sorry to read you're both having these crashes at startup - I'd certainly like to help you troubleshoot this.

A power cycle is definitely a good troubleshooting step to start with! We've got a few more at our support article, found here - I understand you've already made sure your drivers and OS are up to date, Luke25totalwar, but please also verify the game files, and make sure you've not got background programs running which might conflict with the game.

If it still doesn't work after those steps, let me know - I'll talk you through generating some system files we can use to diagnose the issue and suggest a fix

Hey Luke25totalwar, thanks for the update there!

For the crash after clicking on expedition button, can I just double-check the following:

1. What error message you receive as this occurs?
2. Have you had a chance to go through steps mentioned earlier by Ubi-Thrupney?
3. Would you be able to advise us what are the exact steps you take in-game that leads to this?

Let us know and we will take it from there!
