Hey @Sackenhack,
In this case I'm afraid the bug is that these dive trails were left on accounts longer than initially intended.
Since Season 4, dive trails were only intended to remain on the account for the season after they were earned, so you'd be able to show them off and use them the next season, but would need to hit that rank again the following season to get the new version.
At this point the only dive trails would be from last season, or Ranked Series 1 and 2 (Season 2 and 3) if you earned those.
This change was mentioned in the patch notes at the beginning of the season, but just made it into the game with the latest update, apologies for the confusion.
