This is very timely, some of the longest in game players (with absolutely amazing builds) have been sweating this heavily. This will be good news for all and with it mostly affecting fence foundations they'll breath a heavy sigh of relief.

This shouldn't affect me that much accept for those instances where I've used fence foundations to line up tricky gates....

Great news and thanks Funcom for doing it right instead of in a hurry.

We realize the initial announcement sounded a little more gloomy than what it essentially is, but we're also aware that fence foundations were used extensively thanks to their unintended extra versatility. This is why we decided to give some extra breathing room and peace of mind.

As for the overlapping pieces, they were used mostly in less than ethical constructions and although they will likely be way less destructive once the patch hits live, we are less concerned on the consequences that whatever building used them will suffer :)

Other cases the regular foundation will stand and the fences will be gone?

is that right?

If the fence foundations were used as the main stability point for your base, then yes, it will likely collapse once the patch is released. If they were supplementary then it will depend on how many pieces were placed on top of those fence foundations, additional stability points and so on.

Oof. The cross fence foundations were a bug? Whelp. There goes thousands and thousands of fence foundations when this rolls live.

That's why we've rescheduled the patch to give extra clarification and some more time to test the changes on Testlive. :)

Here is my issue. Short of two pieces occupying EXACTLY the same space, how were we supposed to know that they were "illegal?" This is kinda BS. Let's take for example double-walling fence foundations. This is where you have double fence foundations on the north, south, east, and west of a foundation including a double walled + in the middle. No pieces perfectly overlap another (i.e. fill the exact same space as another piece). When I saw this technique, all I could think was, "Wow, Funcom is amazing for allowing us to create such intricate designs!" The tradeoff is that it takes FAR more materials and time to build these structures. To me, this was a feature, not an exploit. Now all of the sudden, Funcom is calling it "illegal" and as such, "exploitive." It took me a week and tens of thousands of steel reinforcements to redesign my t3 base in this style recently and now, just as i'm finished...poof. Would I have started had I known I was building something illegal? Of course not.

Hey there,

We've released an update to our announcement along with some important details. It's pinned :)

This sentence reminds me of someone saying "All you have to do is......" to an audience that is relatively ignorant of what are the precise definitions of the key words. Conan Exiles is a computer program and within that universe definitions have very narrow meanings. The authors of those definitions need to spell them out and illustrate them when communicating to the player base changes of potential destruction.

It's obvious from all the posts on various forums that 'overlapping' and 'building pieces' are being interpreted by the readers in a lot of different ways. The actual effects of the building piece removal is also vague. Developer responses seem to create more questions than unders...

"Overlapping" can also mean two foundations that look like a cross and perhaps (and perhaps not) it also means two parallel foundations in the distance of half a foundation square.

This can be achieved easily without any tricks (not like the "foundation stacking method" where you can put like 9 or more foundations in the area of one square foundation).

The text in the announcement does not clarify if this is considered "illegal" now. It´s embarrassing to be left in uncertainty this way :(

Hey everybody,

We have a new update to share about the upcoming fix for illegal structures. We’ve been gathering feedback for the past few days and there has been a lot of confusion and frustration regarding the extent of this fix and how there were some situations in which the initial wipe could or could not target ...

The overlapping pieces will be removed. Then the server will calculate stability and if those removed pieces were essential for the stability, they'll crumble as well.

Hey everybody,

Our team has been working on a fix to address a critical issue concerning overlapping building pieces that could cause performance and stability problems. We’ve been evaluating options and possible alternatives for the past couple of weeks since this fix can be aggressive to buildings already in place. However, due to the severi...

Hey OP,

It's sort of possible to do this on PC: you can grab the game.db file off your local co-op server and upload that to a server on a dedicated machine.

However, since we don't allow you to set up an Xbox server on your console, it's not possible to "switch" your co-op game to a dedicated server. Unfortunately it's not something we have in the pipeline right now.

Glad to hear the optimizations are noticeable this time :) There might still be some crashes in the game, so please make sure to send the crash report through the PS dashboard once prompted.

I should be asking for a couple of DLC's for the extra cost with my broadband usage of these downloads, not as if I can say no, the game wont load, over the last few months it has cost me nearly 15 pounds in over and above my limit with my supplier.

Next updates should be up to par in size with other platforms. We changed the file system to avoid having to make players download huge patches for a few code changes.
