i love when games are a little dickish. hidden instakill traps. characters that make fun of you for doing poorly. being a little mean to your players is an unalienable game dev right

@pcrowntown in my experience game dev means accepting that we all borrow from the same ambient brain sauce and ideas are rarely unique and that if i'm planning on making something "a couple years down the line" then there's at least a few people already working on something similar

hey, it's been a year (and a couple weeks!) since we launched our Steam port of Cookie Clicker, so i wrote a quick retrospective over on tumblr of what development looked like. (that's usually called a postmortem, but oooh that's a little bit morbid!)
@Mossworm1 in Elden Ring the armor and clothing do practically bugger all in the way of providing actual protection. i thought it was a nice touch

what if levelling didn't happen linearly and predictably but in rare, sudden bursts through happenstance and procedural personalized quests that take commitment to finish
