Unfortunately the gamepass edition is pretty opaque, from the Windows PoV. Here are some things you can try:

1. After installing the game through either the Microsoft store app or the Xbox beta app, click the start button, find Crusader Kings III and right Click -> More -> Run as administrator

2. Check your anti virus!
We've found that many are blocking ckiii.exe or the launcher.exe file so make sure you put them on the approved app list (how this is done will differ depending on the program so please Google your AV program for help)

3. Windows Ransomware!
This is an odd one but it seems CKIII get stuck there now and then! Please follow the below instructions to make sure it's approved: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-...are-protection-windows-10-october-2018-update

4. Windows Defender
Add an exclusion for CKIII using this guide:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/4028485/windows-10-add-an-exclusion-to-windows-security

5. Change the resolution to Windowed Mode in the launcher, then, if the game loads as it should, change it in-game

6. Download the latest C++ Redistributable files

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads

7. Try and repair the game via the Xbox app itself.

  • Go to your Windows Settings
  • Select Apps & features
  • Look for Crusader Kings 3 from the app list
  • Click on Crusader Kings 3 once you find it (Just use sort by : size)
  • Select Advanced options
  • Click on Repair
  • Wait until the process is completed
  • Restart the Xbox(beta) app

8. Create a new Windows user profile (with full administrator rights) and see if launching the game from that profile works. If it does, it's possible that something in the Registry for the other account is causing this and we will escalate that to the developers.
