It now looks like this new problem only affects computers with processors that do not feature AVX:

This is being investigated, and I'm sure will be fixed soon if that is indeed the problem.

Sorry about that!

Meantime you can revert to 1.5.1 in the Steam Betas tab for this game, OR only play on a computer with a more advanced CPU that has AVX.

Did you delete your Documents/Paradox/CK3 folder after reverting?

FrancusGaius said: Indeed I did,
I even tried to revert further back and disabling Fate of Iberia + Garments of the HRE mods. No progress
Then something else has happened to your machine, Windows, or this game installation, quite aside from the AVX bug. CK2 is free to play on Steam now, does it work?

DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log , exceptions.log

Let's get that AMD driver updated:

- uninstall it https://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMD-Clean-Uninstall-Utility.aspx
- reboot
- install the latest https://www.amd.com/en/support/grap...es/amd-radeon-r9-200-series/amd-radeon-r9-280
- reboot again

Any better now?

We are still testing with 1.5.1 , is that right? because 1.6 will not work on your machine until it gets patched.

Then I don't know what happened to your Windows installation or hardware to cause this, very odd. What if you run ck3.exe directly from File Explorer, any Windows error show then?

If not, make a new Windows user and log into Windows as that, and try 1.5.1.1 under it - any better?

Hunangren said: I am presented with a similar problem. Since my processor also doesn't feature AVX Support I believe to be the same case of FrancusGaius, so I guess it wouldn't be useful for me to provide further details (if that's wrong, please correct me).
Including that 1.5.1.1 doesn't work for you either, even though it used to?

Hunangren said: I don't know if you know, or even if you're allowed to reply, but: do you have any idea if this problem might be fixed in a patch coming tomorrow? Or it might take more time? I realize that there are many things on the schedule, so I'm just trying to set my expectation. If it's likely going to take some more time I'll make new plans for my gaming schedule for the next days.
Monday was a public holiday in Sweden so work on it would presumably resume Tuesday morning their time. I can't predict how long it will take to make a fix, and then test it thoroughly, I'm afraid.
