The experiment has evolved. To be the last team standing, you’ll have to put your skills to the test – with all new respawn and deploy mechanics, new items to master, and a brand new map to explore.

Today’s update also includes some quality of life upgrades, like an all new player-pinging system.

Today we’re introducing two maps to CS:GO: Ruby, a bomb defusal map set in a scenic town in Portugal, and Workout, a community favorite hostage rescue map! As these two maps enter, we’ll say goodbye to two other community-created maps: Abbey and Biome.

Ruby is currently available in the Defusal Group Sigma, but in the coming weeks will be added to Competitive Matchmaking. Workout is currently available in Competitive Matchmaking, and the Hostage Map Group.

With today’s Steam update, we’re making a change to the Workshop submission process to address fake item scams. First-time submissions to the CS:GO workshop will now require email verification before the item can be listed publicly. For those of you that have previously submitted Workshop items, you shouldn't see any change in functionality.

Background What do we mean by fake item scams? If you browse the Workshop enough, you may have come across an item with an image of a rare skin, promising giveaways or free content. These items often contain phishing links that are used to compromise Steam accounts.

The following changes are now available for testing in the “1.36.8.5-rc1” Beta Depot.

[GAMEPLAY]
– Grenades will no longer go through closed doors in certain rare circumstances.
– Players can no longer pick up weapons through walls or without direct line-of-sight.

[MISC]
– Fixed an issue causing certain areas to not render correctly when spectating a player with zoom-in activated.
