Please end my fruitless search and tell me...

What is the origin of the Mactera Grabber sound effect??

They play it in the background of the HBO show Deadwood. I've done all of the internet detective work I can, and for the life of me I can't figure out what animal makes that noise. Heck, at this point I can't even tell if it's an insect or a bird!

The power is in your hands to cure me of this affliction.

Our sound guy tells me it's a bird, but he can't remember which one.

u/GSG_Jacob my guy, you're an ace for responding so quickly to something like this.

I left DRG to go play Halo for a minute, but coming back to this subreddit for a minute reminds me just how lovely it is to have devs, community managers, and other staff that listen to and appreciate their community instead of their shareholders.

You're solid. Your whole team is solid. I'm playing DRG when I get home today.

No, you!

I actually googled a bunch of bird calls after I asked our sound guy.
