As you can't see the levels or status of the players in a mission before joining, it's impossible to choose between joining a mission that is already going well vs going... less well. The only metric we have is how many players there are, what classes, and how long they've been in the mission.
As much as I love joining missions with fellow high level dwarves and being able to rock a Haz 5 without a problem, I also love going back to Haz 3 missions and escorting teams of greenbeards as they learn the game. Which I want to do depends on my mood for the evening, so what if there were a way to tell? My idea is this:
- When joining a mission, rather than doing a random lobby or server browser, there would be a button for "Greenbeard Duty" which would match high level dwarves to teams of low-level dwarves
- If a mission is composed solely of lvl <30 dwarves, the host in the pause menu has the option to "Summon a Greybeard" which would put their lobby in priority for high-level dwarves to matchmake into, and would put some sort of icon on their lobby in the server browser so it's easily identifiable for Greybeards to join into
What are your thoughts? Are there any hidden aspects of this that would require more planning?
