Can't put piece of Anniversary Cake back in bag?

Was in my Flaming Nix Garrett house, fulfilling the placing of Hearth items for one of the daily endeavors. Placed a piece of one of the Anniversary Cakes on the table, but did not intend to leave it there permanently. I could pick it up to move it, but when I tried to place it back in my inventory I got the message "Could not return item to bag" (or something close to that) and "Command Failed". I also could not 'use' the cake, as in, turn the sparkles on and off. Tried reloading UI but it made no difference. My inventory bag was not full either, it was at 158/200.
