Hey everyone,

We recently released a beta for our new Epic Games Launcher and we'd love your feedback. During this beta period, we'll be continually improving and tweaking new things so check back often and let us know what you think on our social channels.

You can opt-in at any time by going into the Launcher settings and selecting "Update to Beta". If you want to go back to the old launcher then you can do so by going to the settings and choosing "Disable Beta".

We're excited about this new change and we're looking forward to your feedback!

Heya folks,

Two weeks ago we began our Glider Re-deploy test in default modes. We did not live up to expectations of quickly iterating on the mechanic and communicating plans.

We are disabling Glider Re-Deploy in all default modes starting in v6.30.
It will remain in the larger team modes (e.g. Soaring 50s, Disco Domination etc.) and Playground to allow ongoing experimentation with this feature.

We really appreciate all of the engaged discussion and encourage you to keep the feedback coming!

Hey Fortnite Friends,

We mentioned in our latest State of Development that we had some Front End improvements on the way. We’re excited to announce that these changes will be coming in the 6.30 update. Let’s hop in!

Homebase

When we approached updating the front end, we set out with a lot of goals: we wanted the UI to be easier to understand and navigate, while also leaving room to grow in the future. Additionally, we wanted the front end to feel integrated with the rest of the game by giving it more life and character. In the revamp, many of the menu options now represent locations w... What is Support-A-Creator?

The Support-A-Creator program rewards Creators for bringing exposure to game developers. Creators earn money when supporters purchase on the Epic Games store or spend V-Bucks within Fortnite. Choose your favorite Creator and Epic will do the rest.

How do I support a Creator?

Epic Games store

You can either follow a link from your favorite Creator’s content or enter their Creator Tag at checkout within the Epic Games store.

Inside Fortnite

Go to the Item Shop in Battle Royale or the Loot tab in Save the World and select "Support a Creator". Enter the Epic tag of your Creator in the dialogue box. As long as they are your selected Creator, they share in your spent V-Bucks. This applies to free V-Bucks that you've earned (from gameplay, events, or contests) as well as any V-Bucks you've purchased.

Which Creators can participate... Read more

Heya folks,

Earlier this year we launched on iOS and more recently opened up Android to everyone. We have many important features and updates in development that we’re excited to share with you. Get the scoop on our ongoing dev efforts!

CUSTOMIZABLE HUD

We want you to have more control over your HUD, and an important step in that direction is to allow players to decide which elements are active or disabled at any given moment. We've added editable visibility settings for most HUD elements as well as grid snapping. Every HUD element has three states for the three modes of gameplay (building, editing and combat).

CONTROLS

We’re doing a big quality of life pass on many of the HUD elements. Small things that can dramatically impact the usefulness of the UI, like building slots being drag and droppable which could block other inputs or the wood resource button disabling autorun. We brought...

Heya folks,

In the v6.20 update, we’ll be adding the glider re-deploy mechanic from Soaring 50’s into all game modes. You’ll be able to hop into a Solo, Duo or Squad match as per usual, but now you will be able to re-deploy your glider when you are at least three stories high.

We’re testing how providing a singular mobility mechanic that all players can use will affect regular gameplay. We’re planning to run this for a week. Drop in, try it out, let us know what you think!

Hey Fortnite friends,

Since our last State of Dev we’ve been heads down on learning from our recent updates, working on major changes to prepare for free to play, and continuing to add to Save the World. We released the first part of the Canny Valley quest line, added new enemies and celebrated our first birthday! Let’s get started.

No Free to Play in 2018

We decided to move the free-to-play launch of Save the World out of this year. We’re working on a broad set of features, reworks, and backend system scaling we believe are needed to go free-to-play. Save the World has grown consistently since our launch in July 2017 and Fortnite overall has experienced unprecedented growth. Scaling up for the legions of player heroes who will be joining the fight is key to providing an excellent experience. This applies to all of our players, old and new, so we’re taking the time to get this right.

Please Note: As of May 6, 2019, the Account Merge feature is no longer available.

This blog post is for you if you’ve created multiple Epic Accounts in order to play Fortnite on different consoles.

In November, we’re going to release an “account merging” system so you can combine multiple console-linked accounts to transfer Battle Royale cosmetic item purchases, lifetime wins, V-Bucks, and Save the World campaign access.

In the meantime, it’s possible to link all of your consoles to a single Epic Account, so any future progression and purchases are available everywhere. This will NOT bring over existing purchases and progression from your other accounts; you will have to wait for the account merge feature in November for that.

Heya folks,

We’ve heard your feedback on Audio and have some updates! Tactical audio cues are incredibly important to the core gameplay, and our goal is for you to be able to consistently rely on audio information to survive. Here are some things we’re starting to develop and test internally:

Season 6 - v6.00
  • Footstep sounds
    • More contrast between above/below steps.
      • We want this to be easier to determine on the fly, especially while other sounds are playing (gunfire, harvesting, etc).
    • More high frequency audio content to improve your ability to pinpoint the location of steps, and to prevent them from getting drowned out during intense combat.
  • Glider audio tells
    • Increased awareness when an enemy is gliding in your vicinity.
      • Doppler-based glider audio for incoming threats. This will create that “car passing by” effect when a player ...

Heya folks,

We’re kicking off our Fall Skirmish next weekend awarding $10,000,000 in prize money across a 6-week series concluding at Twitchcon, October 26-28.

The new approach for Fall Skirmish will include both Competitive and Entertainment play formats. We’re looking to incorporate some of these new formats into our large-scale events in 2019. During Fall Skirmish, players will proudly represent themed teams and earn points based on their performances in both play formats. Each week will pose new challenges like white-knuckle ATK races, masterful golf outings, mini-games, and of course high skill competition every weekend.

Nearly 500 Fortnite community members earned cash prizes during the Summer Skirmish and we can’t wait to grow that number during Fall Skirmish. Keep an eye out for a follow-up blog next week for our week 1 format and team announcements. When we’re closer to TwitchCon we’ll drop all the details on the finale’s competitive format, a... What’s up Fortnite community,

With Season 6 right around the corner, competition is about to heat up! Details about the Fall Skirmish below.

Beginning in October, we’re opening up inclusive competition, where everybody can play and compete. To make that possible we’ve had to harden and scale our systems and infrastructure. For example, August was Fortnite’s biggest month yet, with 78.3 million of you showing up to play. This exposed weak points and allowed us to make targeted improvements to critical systems, such as stats and servers. The Summer Skirmish also, as you all probably noticed, highlighted problems with performance and spectating, which we’ve been working on ever since. We’re excited about kicking off the new competition system and we’ll have details dropping in the weeks ahead.

On to the Fall Skirmish! In our ...
