The 'failed to query bug' issue should be resolved, backing out and reselecting the playlist should fix this.

Please let me know if thats not the case!

It’s a visual bug. The weekly challenges look like they give 70k XP instead of 35k, sometimes looking like you levelled up when you haven’t. When you go back to the lobby, this “ghost XP” disappears, making it seem like you’ve gone down a level, when in reality you never went up a level in the first place. Yes I agree that this is a bug and that Epic needs to fix it, I’ve just been seeing loads of these posts lately.

  1. Are you updated to the latest version of Fortnite? v13.20. You can make sure you are updated by visiting the App store on your device.
  2. What device are you on?
  3. Do you have another device or platform that you are able to login on?
  4. Have you tried these workarounds?

Workarounds
1) Reinstalling the game. If this does not work attempt workaround #2

2) Launch with the wifi and cell turned off, once you reach the no connection screen, then turn them back on and that might get you past the start up screen.

This is related to an issue that can sometimes occur involving the XP bar being visually incorrect in a match. This can cause players to appear to level up.

In these instances, you can reference the XP bar in the Lobby for an accurate display.
