Wow this is awesome, and is a testament to the great dev support we've been seeing from Ubi. Wasn't expecting a whole video on the 1.1 update but it's awesome to see that the team spent the time to clearly communicate what we'll be seeing here with a nice preview.

I think the highlighted changes are good. The controller choice is something I felt was priority #1 and it's great that this has been addressed so quickly.

I'm sure the Hex/Mammoth changes will be widely appreciated. At first I thought the aiming issue alone would balance things, but you know... the more and more I think about it I still felt the Hex was just too good of an all purpose weapon, hopefully this will make it fit in a bit better and bring some balance. With the mag size down, it seems like it will be a more balanced trade of RoF for damage, as opposed to a RoF <-> DMG trade with a nice heaping bonus of a 150+ round mag. I can imagine this balance helping.

I'm glad the crown mechanic isn't going away or changing too much, but I can get behind a 60 second timer. I think it might just nudge the showdown balance ever so slightly in the direction people have been hoping for.

In all, I think these are changes the community will welcome, and they seem to be smart changes that don't seem to overreach or over-change. Thanks again for the update!

PS. Also.... wait.... Graeme HAS to be Burns, right? I really gotta check the credits but it's gotta be! Stretch goal I think we gotta get Graeme to slip in a Burns VO line into a video huh?

We've done these types of preview vids since Tech Test! I personally really enjoy them.

For the Hex, I think it was mostly a combination of aim acceleration/aiming issues on top of the large mag size. I am excited to see everyone's thoughts after getting their hands on it.

Crown is definitely not going away. We want Crown Wins to feel more "prestigious". They certainly are not necessary to win the game, but the Crown's purpose is to act as a tiebreaker to prevent people from camping in buildings at the end.

As for a Burns VO line... 🤔

Edit: Graeme is not Burns sadly :P

to add to this, I'm pretty sure there are going to be some aim assist related changes, possibly directed specifically at the hex as well

Aim assist is being reduced with this patch! We will have more details on this with the full patch notes in a few days :D

Its pretty much high risk high reward. Also, if you're playing in squads you can get your teammates to protect you. Personally I like these changes because it gets really annoying having to chase down the crown wearers and when you get them super low they activate invulnerability. But anyways that was just my 2 cents

Exactly this! The point of the crown is to make crown wins seen as something more prestigious in a way and require a bit more strategy. I agree that these types of changes forces your squad to think more strategically and work together to ensure you all hold the crown for long enough.

As Graeme mentioned in the video, we noticed a lot of discussions about struggling to keep up with the Crown Bearer on console especially due to certain hack combinations being spammed too often.

It feels great to receive a video like this on just a 1.1 patch. I keep getting more and more impressed with the developers and how they communicate with the community. I’m excited to keep playing and supporting this game.

Thank you so much! The videos are tons of fun for the team.

My favorite part of this dev highlight is the mammoth nerf. Screw that weapon with it's 2 hit 1 kill shenanigans. I can tell that it had the highest kill and win rate so I'm glad to see it nerfed.

Mammoth was certainly very strong, especially on PC. I am excited to see people's thoughts after trying out the patch!

funny thing is most of these are addressing only console issues. From what I hear it's PC that's having issues filling lobbies. This week it's only been like 30% full

We are also working to address this issue as well. We typically post updates once we have concrete details to share.

FOV slider is something we previously committed to looking into! We are also interested in implementing custom controller layouts. I agree a quick melee button is pretty important, especially for Lethal Melee.

Off topic, but any hope for written patch note changes? Maybe I'm just dumb but I couldn't find them anywhere and I much prefer them.

Of course! Full Patch notes will be available later next week. This video was just highlighting some of the bigger changes for the patch.

It’s not mentioned in the video but the strength of the aim assist for controllers on PC is being reduced in this patch. (There are quite a few other changes, tweaks and new options coming next week that we didn’t have time to fit in the video)

Hopefully you guys can create a classic respawn TDM style mode. Single life modes make it harder to get used to the game mechanics.

Just a thought.

The team is certainly interested in different LTMs! I have seen a few players suggest a TDM-like mode to help newer players get used to how the game feels or add more content to the Training Area.

How are you managing the cheat reporting side of things?

Without a death cam the majority of shots sometimes appear like complete BS.

Most of the time I will shadowplay a death after it feels off to see I was hit first by someone else and that 50m shotgun kill actually only did the final blow rather than being deleted straight away.

I feel this function will be heavily abused by salty players because it’s easy to do but it could cause people who are genuinely good being banned or blocked from playing?

Whilst chest reporting is required it’s useless without being able to see how you died.

The dev team is able to look at some information from the session based on the session ID shown in your top right corner. I do personally agree a kill cam would be important for submitting reports and can see concerns about feeling like there is no information to go off of really.

Crown changes are good for team mode but they will be a pain for solo.
No one will take the crown, cause you litterally dead if you do.
10 guys chasing you on a tiny portion of the map and you can only use your hacks once or twice.
It's far too risky, better wait last one standing...

They should adapt this changes according to the game mode in my opinion.

The changes to the Crown were supposed to make it more of a high-risk high-reward situation. Crown wins are supposed to feel prestigious and the Crown itself is supposed to be used as a tool to prevent people from camping at the end. Realistically, you should only be going for the crown if you are having problems finding the last few people.

Could you give us a little more info on the FOV slider? I appreciate that you’re investigating it but some more detail would really help. PC has had one from the beginning, why isn’t it available on console? If there are chances for performance drops just warn us like apex does but let us exchange some frames for a higher FOV. It’s frustrating to have to flail around in close quarters because you can’t see the guy sliding/jumping/teleporting whatever. The pace is too high for such a low fov.

I personally don't have exact details on the process, but it is not something as simple as porting the option to console. I believe the team is assessing what kind of resources it will take to implement the option and assessing when it should be implemented by. However, it is something the team has committed to looking into and will share an update once more concrete details are available.

Gun balance seems to be in a really good spot compared to most other fps games, but still felt dragonfly needed a buff. Good changes though.

I agree that cross-play will bring an interesting shift to the meta. We will just have to wait and see!

huge fan of the upcoming changes. Honestly im happy with the current game but these changes are welcome ones. My only concern so far has been not getting full lobbies and the cosmetics. I want to show my support for this game but the cosmetics are so unappealing..

The dev team is looking into full lobby issues and working on a few fixes to help with this. As for cosmetics, I've been collecting feedback on them as well. I know Thor talks about it a lot on his stream :P Any suggestions for what kind of cosmetics you'd like to see would be great!

What kind of changes to the Dragonfly are you hoping for? I agree it needs a small buff as well. Personally, I think it needs a slight ROF buff. I think it's damage is in a fairly solid spot.

I’m not sure they addressed the issue in the video, it’s more to do with the aim assist and the fact the bullets hip fire in a straight line.

Aim assist will be reduced with this patch as well!

Yup! In the video, we were trying to say that this is more of an issue for our console players than PC. The change is being applied on all platforms.

Yup! Just gotta wait and see how it plays out. I think a lot of it had to do with aim assist as well as the big mag size. The team is going to keep tabs on discussions after the patch.

The team is trying to gather a bit more info about the Slow Connection error message. I suggest submitting a ticket to support with the name of your Internet Service Provider and if you are using WiFi or wired connection.

Iam surprised this is different on PC.

People not focusing the Crown Bearer is part of the problem with killing the Crown Bearer though. The goal with these changes to give the Crown Bearer more risks and to hopefully allow players to catch up with the Crown Bearer easier.

Ok cool.
For me those two nerf are better but not good. Mammoth is to strong ok, but not only/mainly because of it's damage. The probleme is it's dmg at mid range, and the non-rewarding headshot (you'll 99% of time deal more dmg by aiming in the body than if you were aiming at the head).
I'm a MnK player so i dont really know about the hex but from what i see in clips etc, the probleme is the the mag size.
Seems like you are focused on main basics stats, instead of looking things with perpective with all.
I mean, just look at the skybreaker :
At 20meter (to get the max dmg), the projectile will take 0.66s~ to hit in a radius of 8m.
With mele weapon we run (without slide) at 8m/s~ (on record it took me 1.42s to run on 20m)
So at a minimum range to get max dmg, you dont have to predict your shoot, just have to aim very approximativly on your ennemi to be "sure" to remove him a bit more than 50% of his healf.

Then .. what about all those bug ? what about the server probleme ? What about the input latency ?
I know you have a looooooot of work and can't talk about all. But in my opignon this video is just a thing who say "naaaah dont look at the motor ! look how beautifull the rims are !"

This video is just a highlight, it is not the full patch note. We will have more details about damage drop off with full patch notes. Bugs will also be included.

We have mentioned on Twitter that we are looking into low lobby count if that is what you meant by server problems. For general connection issues, we suggest submitting a ticket so we can gather more details about this issue in an organized manner. Be sure to include what region you are from, what platform you play on, the name of your internet service provider, and any troubleshooting steps you've done.
