Like many of the other people on this sub posting of this recent patch, it's important that as many of us voice our opinion so the devs might hear us and consider a change or a possible rollback; this change was way too damn drastic and killed the uniqueness that this game offered different from other battle royales.

It's shameful they gave in to the people who just complained the game was hard, not understanding the whole point is to be fast paced, those people just seem to be bad at the game tbh and that's ok, I was by NO MEANS good at the game but I was willing to commit putting in the time to get good and adjust to how fast and adaptable the hacks and weaponry were in the game.

But now that's dead and it's just not worth playing, I hope the scrubs enjoy the game they wanted but in the meantime I hope the devs understand what they had just done to the playerbase

Edit: I forgot to address the massive abundance of hackers (cheaters) and how utterly useless Battleye is. For the love of God please do something more to address hackers other than that trash service. It did nothing for Siege and it'll do nothing for this game.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts! I appreciate you guys being constructive on your feelings about the new patch. I've been trying to parse through threads as much as I can.
The current skill gap within the game feels really wide, which can cause problems with retention. A few players so far have shared thoughts mentioning they think a modified sbmm-type system would help lessen the blow towards newer players. I am interested to hear from new players to see what kind of tools might make it easier for them while trying to keep the high skill ceiling of the actual game.

As for cheating, we have put out a blog post detailing our current plans against hackers in the game. We plan to continue to iterate off of that and make further strifes to keep these people out of the game.

SBMM doesn’t seem to be a great idea, it could make the game frustrating instead of fun, and there will be a lot of smurfs accounts.

Just look at MW2019 and how their community complains. I personally think if a bad player wants to progress he will have to do it by the hard way.

Typical SBMM wasn't the suggestion they were trying to make. They were suggesting a split system where higher skilled players were in one group, and everyone else was in a different group. This way lower-skilled players could play against each other and not get pub stomped by higher elo players.

It’s better to have a strong dedicated fan base than a weak larger fan base. Look at super smash bros melee, and halo 3 as example. Games are decades old no updates and still have a consistent fan base of die hard fans. Don’t not try and be a jack of all trades. It’s better to be a master at one thing

As a Melee fan/competitor myself, grassroots communities are powerhouses for sure!
