Hey there r/HyperScape! To celebrate the beta launch of Team Deathmatch, we're reporting back from Ubisoft Montréal. From Tech Test to today, your feedback and questions have been a huge guiding force for us and we can't begin to thank you enough for your continued support. We know there are quite a few hot topics in the community at the moment, so we hope we can give you a better idea of what we're thinking and where we see Hyper Scape going in the future, today.

So without further ado, let's get this moving:

"In general we'd like to bring more activities and things to do in Arcadium, so yes we'd like to add Shards there. We're also re-visiting how we deliver Memory Shards right now, as we'd like them exposed to more players." - JC

  2. Not much of a question but a suggestion. In modes like TDM, we should be able to pick a loadout of weapons and hacks before the match starts. Items would still be spawning on the map, but they’d serve as item swaps and fusions.

  4. Are Solo, Duo, and Squad going to be the standard Crown Rush modes going forward?

"Starting next Tuesday you will be able to test a new TDM map, then another one the week after that. After that, when we reach our December update, we'll add the ability to randomly rotate all the maps. And we're looking at additional maps with that as well." - Thomas

EDIT: The gameplay before the update would have made for a very exciting TDM that kept the uniqueness of HyperScape. Why couldn't there either be a different way to play TDM as far as settings and time to kill. "We want to absolutely preserve the uniqueness of our game in terms of its fast pace and verticality, and we still believe this is a game that requires skill to master. To do that we have to make sure the game stays comfortable and accessible for fighting. "We're currently preparing a change reducing the delay before the Health Regen begins for all game modes in the next patch. We also want to keep the Health Regen speed similar for all modes, so the skills you learn in TDM can transfer to the other modes." - Thomas

"Our primary goal is to ensure the pool of weapons in the game has a wide diversity. By diversity, we mean a range of popularity and efficiency for the weapons, and to make sure everything is fair. We need some time to see the effects of all the changes that came in this week's patch. Once we've determined what needs changing we'll have a balance patch soon after, probably by the end of next week.

I can speak for 99% of the community when I kindly ask you to simply test a 10s regeneration delay WITH the current regeneration speed removing the health kits from the map.

We need more transparency for your decision making process. Especially in terms of weapon balance. You buffed the dtap a week after it's initial rework before testing out how it'll play out. And now it's disgusting. As for the Komodo you initially wanted to buff the radius to 3.5R but accidentally buffed it to 5.5R so instead of reverting the changes to the intended value, you went and buffed it to 4R. And now the entirety of the community believes these weapons are overtuned. What balance philosophy was used to justify these changes? I remember my joy in the first balance patch you released nerfing the hexfire and the mammoth and actually listening to player feedback.

I know onboarding is one of your cell format strategies for the future of the game. And I really want the playerbase to grow. But catering to the new players while disregarding why the veteran players fell in love with the game will do it no good. This game (on release) had the highest skill ceiling of any shooter I've ever played. Most of the hardworking players spend hours each day to improve their movement and aim to be mechanically superior. Yet you decentivize your players each patch by making it easier to aim. Aim assist on console now makes it hard for anyone to miss. The mechanical skill gap in this game is slowly dwindling when all you had to do is add skill-based matchmaking.

"As mentioned in another answer, yes, we're going to make changes to Health Regen, and the change will come in our next patch. We're not committing to 10 seconds just yet as we're still testing it, but around 10 is the range we're currently looking at for the new value.

We understand that lacking the full context for balance decisions can lead to frustrations, and we're working on improving this with our Community Team. We want to find ways to be more transparent about what's guiding our decisions. One thing you can be sure of is we never make a decision solely based on data, and we never make a decision soley based on community feedback. We have to take feedback from all our sources (as well as User Research) to inform our decision making as much as possible." - Thomas
