When does PC join the global matchmaking pool?

PC crossplay will be on by default starting Jan 28, 2021 @ noon EST.

How will it work?

Starting January 28, crossplay will be on by default on PC, meaning PC players will be placed in the same global matchmaking pool as players on PlayStation and Xbox. As is the case on console, players will be able to deactivate crossplay on PC within the game menus. If they do so, they might experience long matchmaking times, as they will be placed in a PC only matchmaking pool with the other players that have opted out of PC crossplay.

Will console players be forced into matchmaking with PC players?

No. Console players can decide to opt-out of crossplay by deactivating this option in the in-game menu. If they do so, they will be matched with other players on their platform who also decided to opt out of crossplay, which might lead to longer matchmaking times.

Is it possible to opt out from crossplay on PC?

Yes, PC players can decide to opt out from crossplay in the in-game menu. If they do so, they might experience long matchmaking times as they will be placed in a PC only matchmaking pool with the other players that have opted out from PC crossplay.

What happens if I squad up with another PC player who has crossplay deactivated? Will be all be placed in a PC only queue?

Yes, if one PC player in the squad has crossplay deactivated, the squad will be placed in a PC only queue with other PC players who have opted-out from crossplay.

Aren’t you concerned about balance issues between Keyboard/Mouse and controller players?

We’re conscious of the potential issues that might occur when matching players together on different control schemes and we will closely monitor our data and the community feedback on PC crossplay and how it impacts the experience – we’re ready to make changes if need be. We have already tweaked some of our aim-assist features in our TU4 patch to have a more global behavior across platforms. At this stage, our priority is to give our PC players the chance to get into bigger matches and experience lower matchmaking times.

Does that mean that aim-assist will now work exactly the same on all platforms?

We have already tweaked some of our aim-assist features in our TU4 patch to have a more global behavior across platforms. Depending on the data and feedback while PC crossplay is launched, we’re ready to keep on iterating on those systems and ensure a fair global experience to all players.
