Alternative auto attacks on the marksmen to make him feel like you're playing a shooter probably means skillshot autos with actual aiming? Either way seems like an interesting premise.

I wish they started releasing at least one more VGU per year. 2 shouldn't be too much work I think. I know that VGUs are far more costly than releasing new champion, but 1 VGU per year is a little bit disappointing to me .

Yeah our Goals is 2 per year, but this year was rough on our schedule for a lot of reasons. We are going to try to get back to 2 again next year

Sounds like they were planning to tie the Arcane release with a big event after Worlds and wanted the new marksmen and new support to be part of it, sad that it couldn't be but hey, seems like everything sorted out in the end!

u/Reav3 in case that you can answer some questions, are we going to get ASU's as individual releases (Like the current VGU pattern) or as "group" releases (Like the old class updates)?

I'm curious since in the roadmap you clarify that this won't slow down VGU releases, so sounds like these might be outsourced

They will release individually

We are still targeting a 2nd VGU for 2022, if it effects anything it will effect the amount of new champs for 2022

So when they say an extra champ next year does that mean next year we will get 9? (The standard 6 plus the 2 that where delayed plus one extra?)

No I mean one more then we usually do, so 7 new champs and 2 VGUs. That could change of course. I'll update on it more is the Season Start devblog since I will have a better idea at what our 2022 ideal roadmap will look like at that point

Please let these ASUs update the animations of the champions. The previous ASUs for like Miss Fortune, Singed, Alistar, Maokai, Kassadin, Sona, and even the full VGU of Fiora didn't touch the base rigging animations, and as such, these champions DO NOT feel modernized. Hell, people are barely aware most of these champions even had work done. These older champions, and whichever new ones you give ASUs to need to have their animation packages upgrade - including recalls, homeguards, dance, joke, etc. Please, please, please I beg of you to have animations be a part of ASUs. It's only partial work if you're just slapping lipstick on a pig.

They will yes. Skins team is rebuilding them from the ground up, like the Ezreal or Morgana update. They just won't come with any gameplay changes.

Hey Reav, does ASU include splash art update for older skins and maybe base splash art?
On the other hand, what about Karthus or Gangplank? They are not likely to get ASU because They are modern releases but some of older skins really need splash art update.

ASUs will come with splash art updates to the splashes that need it and tweaks to others in order to match any differences in the updated models. They will take the same approach we take with VGUs and VgUs in the past. Like for Ezreal we only tweaked his base splash since it still made sense with his VgU, but other splashes were fully remade

yes. Champions Team is doing the VO update to the Champ, while PIE (Skins Team) is doing everything else

Does getting ASU disqualify them from receiving a VGU, or would it instead be a partial VGU targeting only gameplay?

I don't think we would choose Champions for ASUs that needed a VGU. Thier are plenty of Champs that could benefit from a ASU that don't need a VGU. ASUs are meant to target Champs that have solid gameplay but dont need any gameplay changes.

yeah those all still 100% need VGUs

Hi Reav3, are you willing (or not) to tell us what the annual rate goal is for ASUs? Like 4 a year? 6? 2? 12 ;)

I won't comment on that, since the skins team is working on ASUs, and I don't generally like commenting on other teams projects. I will say it is A LOT of work to rebuild a Champion from the ground up (we do it on champs team all the time) since you also have to update most of the Champion skin catalog.

Hey man, I know you probably get a lot of replies on your comments so this might get lost in there, but just in case you might read this, I love the work you and your team have done with VGUs. Volibear is still my favorite champ to this day and this Udyr update looks awesome.

Thanks!

It’s not currently iceboxed but it’s not in a place we’re we are confident to talk about it yet

So there’s a theoretical 2 VGUs (Udyr + x) for 2022 but the other one is still getting off the ground? Or is it confirmed Udyr with a potential for a second one on top of him?

Potential for a second one, we have landed on a strong enough hook yet to be confident we will ship it

The complete silence is more concerning than a straightforward answer like lack of interest on the last poll or you don't have an idea of where to take her anymore.
Even if it's just acknowledging that she still exists

Yeah I always throw a wild card on the list to gauge community interest. A lot of people ask about a Quinn VGU so I threw it on to see how many votes she would get. She didn’t really get enough to put her on again this year. I put Kog up as the wildcard this year. Their is still interest internally for a Quinn VGU at some point though.
