I think this is precisely what they wanted with this bundle: unless I'm mistaken, these are all plasma-based weapons, like the Halberd SE.

The reason they are not making actual laser/beam weapons is that the effect would be supposedly very underwhelming, but this might just be rumor.

Originally, the Lasher used to be a beam weapon in alpha, and IIRC the Maw was also going to be a beam weapon, but the idea was eventually scrapped for both, because of how unconvincing the end result was.

Oh ya.. Speaking of the Halberd SE...

We'll get there. It's been a little rough when we've got NSO to worry about, but once that faction's arsenal gets filled out, we'll be able to do cool variants for faction weapons, instead of needing to fall back on common pool stuff.

Hey. We've gone more than 5 years without an NS-15M. I think we're overdue for a really cool looking and sounding version of one of the best common pool weapons in the game.

In preparation for our eight-year anniversary on Nov. 20, we're sending Chapter 2 of The Shattered Warpgate to PTS, along with the changes and fixes listed below.
  • !! Fixed issues related to the game using the incorrect resolution and window sizes on launch and when tabbing out of the game.
  • !! Fixed an issue that would sometimes prevent particle trails from playing when a weapon is fired.
  • !! Fixed an issue where gaining directive progress quickly would cause game performance to drop drastically.
  • !! Fixed a long-standing issue where lumifiber would appear black when it is not actively being illuminated.
  • !! Flak explosives should no longer cause drastic framerate drops due to excessive particles.
  • Sanctuary has been updated with new Warpgate Terminal visuals, and more terminals available closer to spawn-in points.
  • Players will be able to customize Drop Pod cosmetics by visiting the Nascent Expeditions shop on Sanctuary.

All PS4 servers (NA & EU) will come down for a minor update on Tuesday, November 17 at 8am PST (5pm CET). Downtime is expected to last up to 2 hours. Full patch notes below. Misc. Changes, Fixes, and Additions
  • The Halloween event has ended, and Sanctuary is no longer haunted.
  • The Shattered Warpgate Campaign chapter start and end dates have been set.
  • Added additional options to set render distance on PS4 (functionality now matches PC).
  • Fixed an issue with Anti-Air particles so that AA flak no longer causes FPS drops when on-screen.
  • Fixed several minor UI/chat issues in Sanctuary.
