Welcome back to another Dev Update from the console dev team. Some of you may have noticed that there was no Dev Update for September. We had some last-minute, but very important updates on performance issues and bots recently, so we wanted to squeeze these into this Dev Update as well. Let’s go discover what these updates are.
Client Performance
We’ve been seeing reports of severe freezing in early matches where the game becomes unresponsive for a few seconds. Additionally, many of you have been telling us that loading has been super slow on Karakin – to a point where you load in towards the end of the plane path.
After some investigation, we found that these issues were side effects of some recent optimization work. Creating the most authentic game environment possible means engaging with a player’s senses in powerful, distinct ways—the discrete components of the game each appearing, feeling, and sounding just right. In our Getting a Sense of PUBG series, we’re highlighting specific facets of the game in context of the five senses—touch, sight, hearing, smell, and taste. The final update of season 8 is here and brings a brand new tool to help you catch up to the playzone, a new mode of transportation to avoid those heavily camped bridges, some UI adjustments and more!
Take a little extra time in the Blue Zone with the new Jammer Pack! This new pack has the capacity of a level 2 bag and interrupts Blue Zone damage while its battery lasts, letting you catch up to the play zone or utilize the blue zone for a tactical advantage. The Jammer Pack drops on Sanhok and Karakin starting this update!
Treading the chilled waters of Erangel are new Ferries delivering players to and from Sosnovka Island. Four Ferries travel back and forth between two different destinations, giving you some alternatives to crashing through bridge blockades, finding a boat, or swimming it. Add to that a new Assist indication in the UI, two new Team Deathmatch stages on Sanh...
