I have an issue where the Ranbow Six Siege in-game voice comms are breaking after a while. Here's what happens:
- All the mute buttons on the scoreboard disappear.
- I cannot hear any voice comms from my teammates.
- I cannot use voice comms (my name doesn't appear when I hit the push to talk button and my teammates cannot hear me).

This doesn't happen right away, but occurs eventually during a match with complete consistency so far. It seems that it started after the Oct 7 patch. The problem then persists until I restart the game. I haven't been able to verify a particular cause. I suspect it happens when I alt-tab during a loading screen but I'm not sure yet. I know the issue isn't with my microphone setup because my friends in discord can hear me just fine.

I found a bug report on r6fix about this issue, but so far only four people have verified it (myself included) so I don't have any hope of it being fixed anytime soon. This is problematic because voice comms are a very important part of Rainbow Six Siege.

Hey there.

I'm sorry to hear that.

You can try the following troubleshooting steps, to see if it helps with this matter.

We would also ask you to follow our FAQ for issues with your in-game voice chat

Please make sure your microphone is set as "Default Communication Device" in your settings.

Then also make sure that your microphone have the proper right in your Windows:
1. Open your “File Explorer” and click on “Control Panel”. Then click on “Hardware and Sound” and then click on “Sound”.
2. Click on the “Recording” tab and then select your microphone (i.e. “Headset mic”, “Internal mic”, etc.) and click "Properties".
3. Click the "Advanced" tab. Click on the check mark in the box next to "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" to remove the check mark from the box. Then click "Apply".

If you're still experiencing issues after these steps please get back to me to let me know. Thanks.

I've followed all the steps in the link you sent me. This includes setting SIP ALG to off, ensuring that my microphone is my default recording device and that it's working properly, disabling the ability of apps to take exclusive control of it, closing discord in case of conflicts and making sure that the listed ports weren't blocked by setting up port forwarding for those ports. I've also tried fiddling with my in-game voice settings (i.e. changing mic mode from push-to-talk to open and changing the push-to-talk keybind).

None of those steps fixed the issue. I've also verified that it happens even if I don't tab out.

I'll add that I doubt it's an issue with detecting my microphone because 1) as I said before discord still works fine and 2) one would think that I would still be able to hear other people, but of course I don't understand the inner workings of R6S.
Thanks. There is a known issue that is under investigation at the moment regarding voice comms not working correctly. Can I ask you to submit a support case and attach to it screenshots of your in-game settings and Windows sound settings as well as your system reports.

You can reach us either through the support website by opening a live chat session or alternatively through our social media accounts on Facebook and Twitter and they will be able to create a support case for you.

The reports we need from you are:

MSInfo
DxDiag

Thanks.
