Actually, why not giving Oryx more than just a new weapon? But also a new passive ability? After operator's buff, Amaru can finally destroy hatches from below by her gadget. That makes her less dependant on one of the shotguns.
Ubi can do that exact thing with Oryx as well, juts vica versa. What if Oryx was able standing on a hatch and make a "HULK! CRUSH!" floor punch? That would let him open hatches without picking shotguns and then drop down. Opening hatches from below would still require a weapon, because there's no way he can jump and punch hard enough simultaneously.
