I was playing with a whole 5 Stack yesterday. We had a 3 Game winning streak where i got something over 70 MMR every win, since i didn't really play that much yet this season. We went on to play our 4th game when suddenly in the prep phase of the 1st round, the server started lagging out and we all rubberbanded around the map while trying to reinforce walls.

I looked at the scoreboard and the pings of all 10 players looked normal while this happened. Maybe it was a DDoS, maybe not, i don't know. What i know is that after about 20 seconds of this, my screen froze and the server seemingly shut down. We all got sent back to the main menu, 2 of us had been kicked out of the squad, 3 or 4 of us got an abandon sanction and every one of us got 150 points of MMR deducted.

Can anybody tell me why the hell we got those penalties and why they're so severe? I mean -150 MMR? That's more than 2 of the 3 games we won, gone down the drain. Even if we left the game this amount seems ridiculous. Is this some kind of exploit and we got DDoS'ed or did the server simply die? And if so, why do players get penalties? Ubisoft and their Servers are really giving me a headache.

Hello there, Crash.157! I'm deeply sorry to hear that you and your team experienced this in Rainbow Six Siege. Your frustration is completely valid here and I would feel the same way in this situation. However, please keep in mind that Support is not able to adjust rank, restore lost ranked points, or revert penalties of any kind. Any time a player disconnects from a match, even inadvertently, they receive a temporary ban and a renown/rank penalty. This is a result of the abandonment system in-game, which is automatic and is not controlled by support. Once again, I do apologize for the inconvenience or annoyance that may have been caused. I would be more than happy to share your comments on this with the relevant teams!

I also wrote a support ticket but all the support guys do is blame me for this and suggest it was an issue on my end (when it was clearly not - everybody was disconnected at the same time) and that the sanctions were correctly applied, which is quite infuriating to say the least.
Sorry to hear that this is how you felt after speaking with our support.

The aim is ultimately to get to the bottom of exactly what went wrong and often this means examining everything both player side and our side.
