Voice chat worked earlier yesterday after tinkering with in game settings, but when i go back to those settings it stops working

Things I have tried:

Restarting my PC

Plugging and unplugging my headphones

Restarting Seige

Playing on Vulkan

Setting my mic as default device

Testing it in other games and using an online mic test.

Uninstalling audio drivers (mic still works in other games)

Tinkering with in game Voicechat Record Level and Voicechat Record Threshhold

Moving R6 to a different drive

Given Rainbow Six Seige permission to use my mic (in the scoreboard, when i press the vc button the mic animation happens)

Setting my mic as the default mic

Giving my mic an english name

Moving seige back to the same drive afterwards

Setting my vc button to something else

Checking ubisoft support page (nothing works)

Network isnt blocking VC as I can hear other people

Going into my mic properties, and enabling "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" and "Give exclusive mode applications priority"

Disabling "Give exclusive mode applications priority"

Verifying integrity of game files

Uninstalling Overwolf

Going into ingame settings to confirm that VC is set to push to talk.

Closing discord

Going into Mic properties and setting Microphone to 100%

Hello get_an_ssd_pls and mowhi, thank you for getting in contact and thank you for trying our troubleshooting article on our support site.

I am aware this may only be affecting Push to Talk after the latest update, can you confirm if the open mic setting is working for you in game? Can I also ask if the microphone icon shows in game as disconnected at any point?

Thanks for the update mowhi.

I am not sure what troubleshooting you have tried so far but to rule everything out, could you please start with the troubleshooting steps in our guide here. They also contain new steps that ask you to make sure certain ports are not blocked by your router - https://support.ubisoft.com/en-GB/Article/000060669/

I have various other fixes you can try but I will start by suggesting the following -

- Try running the game in Borderless Window mode
- Update your audio devices drivers and Windows OS (Current update Windows 10, version 20H2)
- Checked what microphone the game is trying to use? Do you have a camera with a microphone that the game maybe using by mistake?

Next please try altering your Windows audio settings -

- Launch your game
- Right click on the Volume/Sound speaker icon in your Taskbar and select Open Sound Settings
- Scroll all the way down to the bottom until you hit the Advanced Sound Options and select App Volume Device Preferences.
- View the 'Output and Input' options, your game should appear in the list of Applications here.
- Under the dropdown column for Siege, select which Audio Device you'd like to the input and output the game's audio to, for your headset, speakers and microphone and any other devices you may have connected.

Please let me know once you have tried all of these options and tested the game, what your results were and if you were able to use either of the microphone settings in game?

Hello mowhi, thank you for the update. So you believe this could be caused by the games update rather than your settings.

What type of game modes has this affected you on and how long ago did you notice this happening? (A specific date would be ideal!)

Can you confirm if this only happens in the first match and then the following matches you are able to voice chat and see the icon on the scoreboard and in-game?

We have made a new investigation into this recently with our QA team, which is why I ask the above specific questions.

Actually I played my first game and others could hear me but the "headphone symbol" when I was speaking was not appearing. I could hear others and there the symbol appeared.

I only played casual quick match so far.

And yes after second match the icon is appearing again.
Thanks for confirming that for us. This issue is known and is under active investigation.

Any idea when this will be resolved Ubisoft?
Hey there.

Welcome to the forums.

Sorry to hear you're affected by this also. No updates at this time I'm afraid other than that the team are still actively working on getting this resolved. Apologies for any inconvenience caused whilst we're working on getting this resolved. As soon as we know more we'll post this to the forums.
