@RyanGrasso94 The book is about game design; region system is really a techical thing.
@Rhopunzel
@notch Thanks! Terrified is good; it means you care :) The RimWorld social sim is honestly very simple. I think it only works because it's embedded in other storygen systems that give context. That and it offloads the work of interpretation to the player (apophenia).
@rocket2guns @notch My mind is breaking trying to imagine the head/face/arm geometry here...

And I swear the game's not just about cannibals knawing on frozen fingers in an endless frozen hellscape! This is just one playstyle of many. You can raise bunnies in a gentle forest!
@RyanSumo Almost as delicious as deleting unnecessary code.
@Lucas_Mcgoldr
.@Rhopunzel Warg looks so adorable in plush
@GameOnGardner Zoom that out to the history of human civilization and it might not look so slow!
I wonder how long the wheel, writing, watermill, and sailing ships would take on that chart.
@Horserax Looks like a bug, thanks!
@Pixelrookie Pretty awesome trailer, love the custom interpretive drawings at the end :)
@notsomerryjane Haha awesome :) just found it after all all this time?
@cliffski Yes you can tell it's people LARPing because they want to stock up on Mad-Max-style goods to trade for food instead of, you know, food. If it was America ammo would be on the list too.
Having some food socked away is always a good idea, for natural disasters if nothing else.
@devilish_flux I promise I'll spend your extra $1.96 well.
RimWorld is 8% off on Fanatical game store!
@TheSHEEEPJD It was quite small on initial release in 2013, and was successful back then. That version had ~10 man-months of work in it.
Arguably it's still small given how few assets there are. We just try to be clever to get bang for our buck, gameplay-wise.
@Rhopunzel I feel like I'm watching a man bite a dog. Can't wait to see what you're working on.
@sherjilozair Can ML models use the process of learning itself as a reward function?
The system would, like a human, self-direct to the best learning opportunities: tasks which are not too easy, and not too hard.
@paulg @EricRWeinstein There is no substitute for having a rich mental library of reference experiences - both failures and successes.
@JimmuArts Start making a game or mod. Any platform, any language, any engine. Doesn't matter. Just get making.
