32s your position here I am Mar and I'm a
35s character artist here at game pars and
37s how long have you been at at game pars
39s uh I've been here for over 3 years now
42s oh yeah we basically came up at the same
44s time right yeah oh yeah oh yeah that's
45s cool so uh can you tell us what other
48s the features have you worked on before
50s uh so uh in these three years I've been
53s working mostly on the clothes that the
54s characters would wear mhm um I the
57s challenge was also making all the
59s clothes fit all
61s body shapes that we allow in the game so
63s uh for an example can you show us
65s something yeah this is just one example
68s so every piece of clothes is made like
71s this on a basic body model and then it
73s has to be mored and work as fat
79s muscle and skin and also a lot of other
82s morphs that allow having the bulletproof
86s vest put over the jacket and having the
87s jacket be pushed in by the vest and and
90s all the other combinations with the head
93s gear and uh boots and shoes which is
96s very important for everything to work
98s together and there's like millions of
100s combinations so yeah that sounds like a
101s lot yeah okay thanks okay Martin so why
106s don't you tell us uh what is the process
108s that involves a concept becoming a fully
110s fleshed out character model all right so
113s for instance uh we start off if we have
115s a basic bie of clothes like a military
118s uh shirts we start out with getting some
122s references from the internet something
123s we like that could work in the game M
126s after that we go into Marvelous Designer
130s this is a program for making first 2D
134s patterns of clothes like in real life
136s and then having these two patterns uh
138s simulate and with physics on our
141s character body model so we have a
143s perfect fit M after that when we have
146s the main creases and shapes we go into
150s to
152s zbrush here we had all these nice
154s details all the connections with the
156s creases between the the pockets and the
159s shirt uh after that we bake this on the
162s low poly and have
165s it all put into
168s substance which uh substance painter
171s which has uh uh all textures are made in
175s substance painter and after that we go
178s into the editor and then here we can
181s still have variations of colors that we
183s put in through our materials and shaders
186s in Unreal Engine uh so from one texture
189s set that you saw in substance printer we
192s can make three variants for the in game
194s players to use that's fantastic man and
197s uh Martin can you show us what you're
198s working on right now yeah
200s sure now I'm working on the trash gilis
204s suit uh we're testing out this would be
207s a prototype that we would test out in uh
210s ious environments in the game like
212s junkyard cities anywhere there's trash
214s laying around and then we'll see how
216s much it fits in how much uh it could be
219s used as camouflage in these kind of
220s environments so after I make the
223s Prototype it'll be some testing on it of
226s course as it should be as
228s always and uh it's made mostly out of
232s parts that can be found found around the
235s island like uh the trash the bottles
237s this is all assets that we have lying
239s around acoss the island so this should
242s make fit in better also the cardboards
244s are accustom made but they're using
246s textures of already existing uh cards in
249s the game so cardboard boxes also so it
253s should fit in now we'll see when we
255s start testing so it's like a lowcost

316s been working on headlamp and uh armband
321s that's going to go live in the next
323s update all right and I can show it to

329s yeah so because the headlamp is battery
331s powered of course we need batteries and
333s we can turn it on right
335s nowo we can equip it it's the first item
338s that can be equipped so we need need to
341s do some refactoring for that and yeah as
344s basic as it gets you have the headlamp
346s and it's on your head and it's a lamp
349s yeah but that's useful you know yeah

353s right and what can you tell us about the
355s armband uh well I can show it to you uh
358s so you have have the armband item on the
361s floor right now mhm and the Prisoner is
364s in the squad cheerful hyenas and he can
367s equip the Armen um when he equips it
370s nothing happens until he refreshes it
373s mhm uh when he refreshes the squad
375s emblem you can see the emblem of the
377s squad on his arm okay that's cool yeah
380s and the other prisoner can come in and
383s kill
385s him um
387s and claim kill
395s he has to respond so he can loot his
399s inventory uh let see searching
403s now and he will drop the
405s armb uh and the armband will have the
409s previous logo with the prisoner mhm on
412s it so we can see the green
416s logo uh but if you don't like the
419s previous logo you can use the previous
421s logo if you want for instance infiltrate
423s the other squad or something like that
425s okay that's cool if you want use your
427s own logo like this prisoner has um you
432s can just refresh the armband and you
434s will get your own logo right here and if
437s you leave the
439s squad uh you will also have to refresh
441s it so it
443s clears so that's pretty cool
