The Sea of Thieves servers are now offline so that we can make the final preparations before announcing Season One open! Sharpen your cutlass and give your pistol a once over – we'll let you know when you're safe to sail the seas once again.

Pirates! The Sea of Thieves servers will be taken offline in one hour at approximately 10am GMT. Time to conclude your Voyages and grab that gold before you're caught short!

We're making changes to available communication options within The Arena as part of tomorrow's Season One update, in order to make this mode a more welcoming space. Want more info? Read this Forum post from Executive Producer Joe Neate:

Attention pirates! The Sea of Thieves servers will be offline from approximately 10am GMT tomorrow, Thursday 28th, so that we can usher in our inaugural Season! Please plan your Voyages accordingly.

The Bilge Rats chose their name deliberately, in honour of the scurrying rodents that inhabit the lowest, filthiest decks of a ship. The message is clear: these are pirates who are not afraid to get their hands dirty. #TriviaTuesday
