If you have problems starting the game in any way, try the following:
Known Technical Issues:
- Black screen when pressing play in the launcher, but music is playing
- Click the settings (the cogwheels) in the launcher and changed from fullscreen to windowed mode
- Lag/Framedrops
- We have a hotfix targetting these issues incoming soon. We are also looking into the reports we are receiving
- Problems joining Multiplayer games
- There seems some people have problems joining games through the server list in-game. Make sure that everyone has the correct checksum (9b5a). If you can't join through the server list, try exiting the game, click your friend in the Steam friends list and "join friends game".
- Game crashes when mousing over certain "ambient objects"
- Ambient objects are fluff items that exist on the map. Some of them appear where they shouldn't and causes the game to crash if you mouse over them. This is being hotfixed asap.
- Game crashes when starting at 1536*864 resolution
- Change the resolution to 1920*1080 in the launcher and the game will start as normal
- Multiplayer issues!
- There seems some thrifty people made a workaround for problems connecting in Multiplayer games: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/cant-join-or-see-my-friends-game.926887/
- Double clicking on systems to rename them causes the game to crash
- Being investigated, also happens at times to other things than systems
- Stellaris doesn't load
If you are using the screen capturing software Prismatik please update it
Known in-game issues
- If you have wormhole technology and is in an alliance, your ships will try to use the wormhole stations of your allies and just stop
- This is an issue we hope to solve in a patch soon. For now the only way is to micro manage your fleets.
- Set the game to run in windowed mode instead of fullscreen
- Disable any user made mods
- Verify the game cache (right click Stellaris in Steam -> Properties -> Local Files -> “Verify integrity of game cache”)
- Delete the …\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris -folder on your computer (make sure to backup any save files you may have in there)
- Restart the Steam client
- Go to ...\Steam\steamapps\common\Stellaris\ and starting stellaris.exe by right clicking and selecting "Run as Administrator"
- Add 'stellaris.exe' to exclusion list on any anti-malware or anti-virus software. Stellaris will try to write to your 'Documents' -folder, which may cause some security software to react.
