This is based on an exchange in the Discord. Housing can be a pretty fun thing to mess around with in Temtem but there's limited space and very little reason for anyone to visit your house. There are also a lot of housing items in the battle pass or in the rotating shop, which is a little strange since the game doesn't actively give players a reason to interact with housing.

To address the limited space part, it would be nice if there was a way to add a second floor to your house or alternatively to have larger house layouts as options, perhaps layouts that have multiple rooms instead of just one large open space.

As for the limited reasons to visit houses, it was suggested earlier that there could be a hologram AI version of the owner of the house and that you could battle them when you visit their house. It could use the first team from their competitive pro squad. It wouldn't have to give any major rewards but maybe there could be a weekly quest to defeat 10 tamers or something for a small reward, or there could be a kudo for beating a certain number.

Another possibility is that perhaps the postal delivery quest could sometimes give you the name of an actual tamer in the game and you'd have to deliver a package to their mailbox. That would provide another reason to go into Atoll Row sometimes and perhaps people would pop in to check out the house while they're there.

I just wanted to share some thoughts. Thanks for reading.

Thanks for the suggestions! I've been looking for things to improve housing for quite some time, but due to all the technical limitations it has it's complicated. Housing was designed as something simple (like it is right now) so all the codebase supports that, changing it drastically would just simply take too much time.

We explored the idea of creating battle bots as you suggested, we even had some concept art done (https://i.imgur.com/2Hh6syG.png

), but we haven't found a way to implement it in a way that is interesting for the userbase. Sadly, we can't add a feature that is "for fun" in Temtem because no one wants that in this game. And adding rewards to this is complicated due to the freedom users would have to set their teams (you can choose a team that the IA can't really know how to handle, or a team with only pre-evos, etc), so rewards would be scuffed and since everyone in Temtem gives their lives to min-maxing that would be the only thing users would do, making it a very rapidly boring activity.

And postal delivery actually is another idea we explored. We made an algorithm that chose "decent" houses (houses with good decoration) and randomized the list so we could integrate that into quests (weekly quests like visiting the house at A00001A). However, since housing is considered as UGC (user-generated content), there are a lot of restrictions on consoles and some users can't even access housing at all, so it would be a part of the game not everyone could enjoy...
