A friend of mine had recommended Temtem to me because ''it is a much cheaper alternative with much more content than Pokémon Sword and Shield'', I had loved the idea already, Unfortunately I'm waiting for the Nintendo Switch version to be able to play, but I was following the news and prices, it was then that I saw that Temtem is almost the same price as Pokémon, although I love the idea of a Pokémon MMORPG, maybe I shouldn't judge, but I think the game is a little expensive for a simple indie from a company I never heard of, especially when for just a few extra bucks I could buy the Pokémon, I am now curious to know what will be the final price of the game on the Nintendo Switch, as much as I loved the idea I think I will not buy if this is the real final price.

PS: So... now I found out that if you share your console with your family and want to play with someone you can't trade Temtem, well... Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Let's Go costs R$250.00 ( Temtem costs R$214.00 and I believe that price unfortunately will remain on Nintendo Switch too, at the current dollar price it is only $6.17 difference ) Pokémon allows me to trade Pokémon with other people regardless of sharing my console or sharing the game price with my sister or not, so why should I buy Temtem for this expenssive price on Switch anyway ?

To be honest this is almost half of what I get at my job in a month, why can't Temtem on consoles have the same price as Steam?

Hi!!! There seems to be something going on, we're looking into it. Regional pricing might cause the game to have a slight price difference between platforms on the same region, but not this big, I've never seen anything like this. You said this affected other regions, can you please share which? So we can rapidly check those out too.

I can't say exactly which region, but I saw people on facebook and a person on the forum commenting something similar, I believe this is in Brazil, Argentina and South Africa but I can only confirm it here in Brazil.

The game costs R$ 83.90 on Steam after the price increase, is an excellent price for Brazilians, but on the Playstation Store the game costs R$ 214.90 in its basic version and R$ 319.90 in its Deluxe version, for comparison Pokémon Sword and Shield or Let's Go cost R$ 250.00 in the Nintendo eShop ( in short, the basic version of Temtem is only U$8.19 more cheaper than Pokémon Sword or Shield ).

From what I saw Temtem is more expensive than a direct dollar conversion, currently it is cheaper to make an account on Playstation Network USA and buy the game over there, at least that's what I saw from Brazilians.

So I've looked into it and I sadly bring bad news :(

Apparently, it has to do with the PS5 Store price matrix, and the way they attempt to keep it "equal" across regions. I checked out a handful of regions and it's more expensive than the Steam version in all of them, even in €.

We've always attempted to have Steam make sense in the context of each currency's economy, but we cannot control this one. I'm very sorry :_

Wow, this is really sucks... but thanks for answering, does that mean that on Nintendo Switch it will also be as expensive as on PS5 in the future?

It will depend on the Nintendo Store price matrix, so it's hard to say at the moment. The one thing we know is that the game will be out of Early Access by then (Nintendo doesn't allow EA games in the platform), so our set price will be the final one ($44.99 USD). Now, whatever the price matrix does to it is a whole different story :/

I don't understand much about these things, but some games on the Nintendo eShop in Brazil keep the same price as Steam (or sometimes even cheaper) for example:

Hollow Knight ( R$: 27.99 on Steam and Nintendo eShop ) ( U$: 14.99 Which would give about R$ 70 in the conversion of the current dollar. )

Horizon Chase Turbo ( R$: 49.90 on Steam and Nintendo eShop ) ( U$: 24.98 Which would give about R$ 127,58 in the conversion of the current dollar. )

Cuphead ( R$ 49.90 on Nintendo eShop and R$ 36.99 on Steam ) ( U$ 19.99 Which would give about R$ 102,06 in the conversion of the current dollar. )

Among Us ( R$ 18.50 on Nintendo eShop and R$ 10.89 on Steam ) ( U$ 5.99 Which would give about R$ 30,62 in the conversion of the current dollar. )

Starlink: Battle for Atlas ( R$ 79,20 on Nintendo eShop and R$ 179.99 on Steam ) ( U$ 59.99 Which would give about R$ 301,08 in the conversion of the current dollar. )

Mortal Kombat 11 ( R$ 199,90 on Nintendo eShop and R$ 159,99 on Steam ) ( U$ 49.99 Which would give about 250,05 in the conversion of the current dollar.

Overwatch®: Legendary Edition ( R$ 149.90 on Nintendo eShop and R$ 149.90 on Blizzard Shop ) ( U$ 59.99 Which would give about 306,19 in the conversion of the current dollar. Just out of curiosity, this edition currently costs R$ 229 in the Playstation Store)

Katana ZERO ( R$ 28.99 on Nintendo eShop and R$ 28.99 on Steam ) ( U$ 14.99 Which would give about R$ 76,50 in the conversion of the current dollar. )

Stardew Valley ( R$ 24.99 on Nintendo eShop and R$ 24.99 on Steam ) ( U$ 14.99 Which would give about R$ 76,50 in the conversion of the current dollar. )

Wargroove ( R$ 37.99 on Nintendo eShop and R$ 37.99 on Steam ) ( U$ 19.99 Which would give about R$ 102,06 in the conversion of the current dollar. )

I don't know what can really be done with Temtem in relation to the price on Playstation 5, many other indie games are also considerably more expensive on PS4 than on Steam, but I'm almost absolutely sure that Crema can manage to keep a price very close to Steam (or even the same price) in the version for Nintendo Switch (or Xbox Series, Microsoft Store usually has the best prices here).

I think what causes strangeness in the price of Temtem on the PS5 is that it costs R$ 214.90, this is not only considerably expensive but also more expensive than buying from the American Playstation Store doing the current dollar conversion ( U$ 39.99 = R$ 204,08 ) which is generally not the case in games that are released in Brazil even on PS4/PS5.

No, as I said, there isn’t much we Crema can do. We could raise the Steam price to match the other stores (not that we want to do that), but not the other way around. We cannot influence other stores’ price matrix, so it’ll have to be what the Nintendo Store’s price matrix does to the original price. It’s still a long way until the Switch version launches, so let’s please not make assumptions or have expectations regarding things yet unknown, it usually only causes bitterness at the end.
