I just saw a video mentioning that the devs would include 1v1 battle in the game at a later time.

I would like to explain why i think this might be a bad idea.

Note that my concerns are only for the competitve aspect of the game. If 1v1 battles ends up being casual only, then i do not have an issue with it at all.

1- it would split the competitve player base of the game. Some will like 1v1 more, some 2v2. Most players will specialize in the format they enjoy the most, or where they perform the best. To shrink the player base of an indi game is risky. The less player, the more hard matchmaking is, the harder new payer gets stomp, the less likely they are to keep playing.

2- Balancing would be very hard or impossible. Some temtem would be op in one format and crap in the other. Some would only see plays in 1v1 for exemple, and then if you want to buff them so they can be relevant in 2v2, then in the 1v1 they would become perma ban. Some may say that the banning phase would prevent some major broken Tem, but in the end isnt banning more suppose to be a strategic tool? Ban Tem that counter your strategy or enders theirs? If every game you end up banning the same Tem over and over cause they cant be balance then id say it would be a ban design. For it to work, you would need to have two sets of stats for every Tem. (Overwatch does this, League of legend too) But for Temtem this seems like alot of work and confusion added to the game.

We don't plan to include 1 Temtem vs 1 Temtem battles. The Kickstarter was refering to 1 player vs 1 player.

There was a time where we have plans to end up including 1v1 but since then the game has evolved a lot and most of the battle mechanics in the game are designed around 2v2 and it doesn't make much sense now.
