First off, I really want to enjoy this game and I hope it succeeds, I've had multiple groups of people tell me that its just a Pokemon rip off but I've tried to defend this game as best I can, but there are some glaring issues when it comes to community management.

The community discord has some glaring issues that I have tried addressing but got shut down about.

The biggest problem is a complete lack of available voice channels. There are currently over 80,000 members in the discord and the complete total of available voice channel spots is a grand total of 48. When I brought this up to a mod he said, "The neutral VC was given a limit for a reason" Meaning their fix to the problem, instead of opening up more voice channels, was to just lock the one and only channel that allows more than 4 people. I was also told that "not everyone joins the VC" but even if 1% of members wanted to join there would still be 700+ people not able to discuss with other fans. I was also told by someone that people don't use the server to talk to friends, they people would rather use their own servers; but this isn't the point at all. The point of a games discord is to allow fans of the game to discuss with one another without having to have prior connections with people.

Other servers with similar amounts of players handle this problem well. One example is Risk of Rain 2. RoR2 has a constant number of people online talking and playing, usually somewhere between 30-90 people in VC at any given time. Space isn't as issue for them, there is always plenty of people to talk to, and yet still plenty of room for other discussions.

Another example of a server done well is Pokemon Sword and Shield discord, They have a similar amount of people as TemTem but Pokemon has actual space for discussion. Pokemon also has locks on the number of people in their channels, but it isn't locked to 2 people per room except for the room for battling.

After everything, I was told to just make my own server. So i made my own server, it's the TemTem overflow server. Here's a link if you want to join and have actual room to talk and not be confined to 2 person voice channels.

Hey,

Thanks for the criticism. Voice chats are currently on a sort of "test" period because we weren't sure if it would be a good idea to implement them or not. We're still figuring out which rules they need and what kind of moderation do they need. That's why they are limited for now.

Most of the channels are capped at 2 persons due to the limitations on online features (co-op is only for 2, competitive battles are for 2, etc).

Maybe it's time to implement more channels and making them more open. I'll talk to the mod team to see what they think of.
