I took a break from season 3 but I want to get back in. I go to start a new team and wow. Cool in theory, but the execution of recommended teambuilding is very poor.

1 - It's hard to find the Temtem I want to add. If I know what I want to use, I have to scroll through the sections to find it with no way to sort by name or number, type, or even family.

2 - The recommendations are nonsensical. Let's say I follow the top level recommendation and pick Tyranak. The game then recommends me Baboong, Tortenite, Kaku, Skail, Gazuma, and Spriole. For one, most of those are unevolved. I'm not Workman and neither are most players - certainly none of these tems is Raize, which has historically been a viable non-fully evolved Tem. Third, from an actual teambuilding standpoint, the game chose two tems who suffer from Tyranak's sole weakness, starting me off with a bizarre weakness to toxic.

2a - If I do choose say, Tyranak -> Spriole, the recommendation continues to recommend that I select Spriole.

3 - If you call the recommender's bluff and start with say, Hocus(a very weak non-fully evolved Tem), recommendation doesn't know what to do. It offers no further "Recommendations", defaulting to "For Fun" which now just lists every single Tem in a completely random order.

4 - You cannot use the mouse wheel to scroll through the screen. QoL :)

In short, anyone using Showdown for the first time and wanting to get a feel for Temtem is going to get a really really bad recommended team. Not like, "lol n00b, your tems aren't S tier lol" more like "bro, your team couldn't beat that gauntlet of Belsoto grunts in Windward Fort that only have 1 tem each." For someone more experienced, it's just annoying that I have to dig through instead of sorting by name.

Cheers!

Recommendations are based on recent data (latest X matches) so it doesn't matter if a Tem matches another one "historically". We'll have to take a look at Tyranak though and see if that is correct.

For tems with lower pickrate (like Hocus) there is almost no analytics so there is also no recommendation data to pull from.

For sure we have to improve the QOL on selecting Tems and adding sorting / filter.
