I haven't been this excited and overjoyed about a """pokemon/monstertamer""" game since the early 2000s. It's currently 3am, I finished my alpha purchase earlier tonight, and I'm utterly in love with these sillybilly critters and the game mechanics. I haven't made it to the second major town/route/thingy yet. I'm still getting to Accademia. Despite some "first initialization lag," I had a pretty smooth boot up on a lenovo flex 3 14 (for those who wanna check their pc specs. It lagged bad early boot/first time boot. But after a restart and some wait time, it sped up fine. -note I have a modified hard drive, not original)
The "hard core" gamer in me is ADORING the fact that I'm just...thrown into the game. No one holds your hand; you're told what to do and generally how, kinda, to do it. That's it. I love it. They give you a temtem and say "okay! Enjoy!" While hiding little game play hints in character speech and battle intros.
I grew up alongside pokemon, literally. But the things game freak has been doing lately/recent choices for the franchise direction have just generally been a bummer for me.
And then I remember, "what was that cute game I saw? Timmy?" And with the help of YouTube, I found ya again.
This game gives me hope for a future where other good games have a chance to exist and literally prosper, despite the similarities they may share with others; a genre isn't one company, after all, its an idea. Maybe temtem will let other ideas prosper as well.
I'm so glad I got this, I'm so glad youtubers are playing it, and many people are seeing it.
Thanks Devs. Really. You brought some nostalgic child like excitement back to me, and I'm honestly thankful for that.
