Hello, Tamers!

We're once again ready to discuss a feature and get focused feedback on it from you! This time it's about the Mythical Lairs, a long-discussed feature.
We'd like to please ask you to drop your feedback in the existing Discord thread if possible, as it'll be easier for u/xYaW and the rest of the team to keep track of it. Thread can be found here!
If not, you can also drop your opinions and ideas in the comment section here, but please read YaW's original post to get an idea of the realm of possibility we're working on!

Please stay on topic and use this comment section to talk only about Lairs and the proposed changes. Be civil and nice about it! Offtopic or rude comments will be moderated to keep this clean and helpful.

Have fun and read you soon!

Lairs were a really cool addition and even though it can have a group of people taking part, the progress solely feels singular with no interaction between players aside from the shared currency.

With that being the case I would recommend sections, only just one or maybe two, along the lanes where you team up with other players. Be it as a duo or if possible expanded to have all players. It can be a battle against a tem that is thematically in line with the dungeon or on a rotational set (weekly) which gives unique bonuses for the run. It's a bit more in depth but maybe beating that tem grants you reward bonuses at the end depending on how quick you defeated it. Beat in <4 turns then you got 2x pansun rewards at the end. Beat in in 4-6 then you thet 1.5x etc....

Maybe others can chime in with ideas to extend this but ultimately the lairs need more cooperation elements to really propel them forward.

why double battles are not considered is explained in the linked post! Giving it a read is really recommended so you can better aim the feedback/suggestions

Welcome to another focused-feedback thread!

The last time we did one of these was about Lairs. While those changes were positive and improved the reward system on Lairs, we were also planning deeper changes to the system to revitalize them. So here we are!

I'm dividing the changes into sections to keep feedback clearer and easier to process. You are welcome to discuss and propose things not talked about here, but you need to be aware and remember that Lairs are a very complicated system that we can't change too much of, only tweak. Doing changes that entirely alter their substance (for example, allowing the boss battle to be done by all 5 players) is out of scope.

Also, have in mind these changes currently don't have a target patch, so while we want to include them along the road we don't have a deadline set for now.

New Lair node: Trade

We know trading in Lairs has been one of the most common requests for a long time. However, we believe that simply allowing free trading inside Lairs would be detrimental to the activity. It would generate situations where you are constantly giving Tems and waiting for other battles to end to get them back, and would make the game mode much slower (and we would need to tune the difficulty higher to accommodate for those strategies).

So, what we're considering is a new Lair node. Same as you now have a Shop Lair node, there will be a new one placed on Lairs that will allow you to trade with other players.

Only one of the players would need to be on the node to trade with another. When interacting with the node, you'd be able to select one other player to initiate the trade. The other player would need to be outside of battle and would need to accept the request.

Trading would work pretty much the same as everywhere, with the exception of not being allowed to trade any currency whatsoever (since the only currency available on Lairs is shared, it doesn't make much sense anyway). So you would be able to trade in or out Tems and items.

Once the trade is done and confirmed by both players, the node will be permanently disabled (same as with every other Lair node). So you will only be able to trade once per node.

We believe this would help avoid the undesired situations free trading would bring, while also increasing the "cooperative" capabilities of Lairs and helping to equalize all players' progress if someone has been unlucky.

Pity Rewards

This one is short, but I just wanted to talk about it too. We're planning to add pity rewards in case you don't complete the Lair and must abandon it. This would work in a similar way as it works currently in the DigiLair, although we haven't decided which currency would be the one for pity rewards.

Voting revives

This is something I want to add, but don't really know how. So I'm opening the discussion on this to check on your ideas and see if we can come up with a decent solution together.

Reviving and wasting jewels is usually a point of conflict between players. So we thought about adding votes when someone wants to revive. This would mean that when getting knocked out, instead of being able to revive instantly spending the jewels, a poll would open and the rest of the party would vote if they want to revive you or not. If the voting is succesful, the jewels will be spent and the player will revive. If the voting is not succesful, the player won't be revived and would be expelled from the Lair.

However, there are some problems with this. We don't have anything available inside battles that could allow you to vote on the poll, so all the votes must be outside of battle. We thought of using the in-game notification system (the same one used when receiving a trade invite for example), but that only works outside of battle too.

With this, the player that needs to be revived would have to wait for all the other players to be out of battle, notice the notification and interact with it. Which would lead to heavy waiting times on reviving, making the Lair experience longer overall.

We also don't have anything prepared to "block" the user and wait for their input on the poll, and something like that would be difficult to implement, so we would have to rely on the in-game notifications which could be missed between battles.

Party Sizes

One of the problems in Temtem for new users is the lack of endgame activities that don't require a full dedicated competitive team trained. This, along with the common feeling that while Lairs are a multiplayer activity, sometimes they don't feel like it, have led us to think about being able to complete Lairs with different party sizes, or even alone.

The idea is that when you go to a Lair you would select your desired party size (1 player, 2 players, 3+ players). Each party size would have different rewards and different Lair difficulty associated (mainly the amount of jewels needed).

The 1 player and 2 player Lair would be more focused towards new users, so they'd reward items that allow them to improve their team to reach other endgame activities and Pansuns. The 3+ players would remain as it is right now.

Please note that the 2 player Lair wouldn't work exactly like the DigiLair, as in the boss would still be a single player battle. We need to keep the same overall features and rules between different party sizes.

Haha it's okay! You can read discord posts without joining, and I wanted to encourage flow into the Discord discussion because it's more complete and YaW has already clarified stuff, so I wanted to encourage people actually dropping by and reading it. Just reading it and dropping comments here is already a huge step from not reading it, and since you don't need an account for that, I intentionally didn't copy-paste this here, but I don't mind that you did.
