TYPE: In-Game

DESCRIPTION:

I would be playing the game for anywhere from 15 min to over an hour and it would suddenly freeze.

I would then be forced to Force close the game via Windows popup or Task Manager.

It occurred after opening inventory menus or even during boss fights.

VISUAL: na

REPRODUCTION:

Difficult to say how.

DirectX 12 seems to make it happen more often.

Crashes a little less often on DirectX 11, usually takes longer before it happens.

My DxDiag system information in Pastebin:  https://pastebin.com/EawbBcAi: (https://pastebin.com/EawbBcAi)

* I am running a Nvidia Geforce 1660 Ti

* https://pastebin.com/HGn8mKu1: (https://pastebin.com/HGn8mKu1)

I have tried most of the standard methods for resolving the issue.

1. I have set Windows 8 compatibility mode, disabled full screen optimizations, set the application to handle dpi scaling, etc (using Properties on the Division 2.exe).

2. I have reduced graphic settings in game to the lowest possible options.

3. I have disabled all UI animations, screen effects, etc.

4. I was already running the latest Nvidia drivers 511.79 as of 03/19/22.

5. I switched from DirectX 12 to DirectX 11.

6. Disabled the Ubisoft Connect in-game overlay.

7. Disabled all 3rd party integrations (i.e. Mystic Light)

8. I was still running MSI Afterburner with an Overclock.

With these adjustments I managed to stretch the crash time to 1 h 46 min during one test.  (crash log:  https://pastebin.com/HGn8mKu1): (https://pastebin.com/HGn8mKu1))

EXPECTED RESULT:

I would expect the game not to crash at all, even after 8 hours if need be.

OBSERVED RESULT:

The game crashes eventually whether it's within a few minutes to 4 hours.

Usually within 2 hours.

Pastebin of Crash Logs:  https://pastebin.com/dmMuf8ga: (https://pastebin.com/dmMuf8ga)

I also noticed that the game uses a very large amount of video ram, getting up to 5900 MB which would push the limit of my GTX 1660 Ti.

Is there a possible memory leak?

REPRODUCTION RATE:

The rate is inconsistent.

Sometimes I manage to make it to the 4 hour mark, sometimes I don't last 13 - 15 minutes.

@avatarsage7 Hey! Sorry to hear that the game is crashing for you.

Thank you for all the crash logs and files, and also for letting us know what you have done to troubleshoot this issue so far. I have looked through these files and can not see anything that would determine the root cause of this issue.

You mentioned that you are on Windows 8, what version number of Windows 8 are you on?

Also, you mentioned that the game is using a lot of video memory. What graphical settings do you have the game running at?

@dns20 sorry to hear that you are also experiencing freezing. Can we confirm you have tried the steps here?

Please also ensure you meet the minimum requirements for the game, which can be found here.

Thank you both.

@dns20 Thank you for your reply. If the game is freezing for you on PS4 can you try the steps here.

If the issue continues after this please let us know.

Thank you.

@avatarsage7 Hello there.

Thank you for providing us with a detailed update on how the game runs since following all the listed steps.

We'd usually advise against overclocking your GPU when running a Ubisoft title. Would you be able to let us know if you find the game freezes more/less when running The Division 2 without overclocking?

Many thanks.

Hey @lezuzyus !

Sorry to hear you are also experiencing crashes when playing The Division 2 !

I see you've mentioned trying the steps from the thread above. Could you also confirm you've done the steps from this article, please ?

From the specs you have provided, I can confirm you are above the system requirements for the game.

If the issue persists afterwards, could you reach out to us via email with DxDiag and Msinfo so we can have a look ?

Hey there @nedgamer63, thanks for taking the time to get in touch, I'm sorry to hear that you have also been affected by these issues. I appreciate that you have already performed some troubleshooting steps, I just want to check here, did you follow the steps in this technical troubleshooting article? If not, I would recommend you go through it. As these steps can help rule out many of the common causes for technical-related issues.

If you have done that, could you please go through the steps shared above by my colleague and reach out to us with your DxDiag and MSinfo files?
