In the advanced editor placing ground variants in the air can easily cause a game crash with a null dereference, while using the Cut feature.

  1. Using normal Block Mode, place a block on the ground (for example, 1-1-1-1, RoadTechStraight)
  2. Switch to Free Block Mode, and ctrl-click on the block that has just been placed to select the ground variant
  3. Move upward at least one block (8m), and place it
  4. Select the both blocks in Copy/Paste Mode
  5. Cut then Paste works as expected
  6. Select only the second block
  7. Cut crashes the game

This is 100% reproducable for me, but I am willing to stream/screen record/screen share if it would help.

Hello Phlarx, thank you for posting about this.

If possible would you be able to record a clip of this either on Twitch or using the Xbox Game Bar on Windows, whichever is easier and link it here in the thread so we can take a look and see if we are able to reproduce the exact same issue? Thank you very much.

At 0:24, I tilt the block to show that it is in free block mode, and to show that it is the ground variant. However, tilting is not required
At 0:37, I show that cut/paste works correctly when the block on the ground is included
At 0:54, my game stops responding (you can see that 'cut' buttons does not stop glowing when the mouse is moved away, unlike earlier)
At 0:59, I am dropped back to my desktop

I hope that helps!
Hello!

This absolutely helps us, thank you very much for providing a video.

The video and your steps are perfectly clear. I'll report this to our team now; I'm sure they will have no issue reproducing it, then we can implement a fix

Enjoy your day!
