[2020] Bug: fullscreen mode changing after alt-tab

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Are you able to play in fullscreen borderless mode instead?

While playing there's no problem in either mode, but I usually have TM running in the background for a couple of quick laps every now and then while working. And having TM running in a fullscreen window behind my other windows is kind of distracting
With real fullscreen mode the window gets minimized when I alt-tab back to work. Real fullscreen works most of the time but after 3 or 4 alt-tabs it switches to borderless window for some reason.

We have completed some updates since your last post, would it be possible to confirm if this still persists?

It seems to happen mostly when alt-tabbing during loading of some kind, eg loading the track of the day campaign (unrelated but why is this taking so long?), or loading a map.

I understand, the additional details you provided make sense. The reason this is probably happening most often while the game is loading is due to the way full screen and windowed mode works. When playing in full screen the game will get priority over your graphics, when you alt tab the graphics card that is already working on the game then needs to render your desktop. A good way of showing this is while on your desktop if you have a game running but highlight the game you will not get a preview but you will of any other window.

However whilst playing in windowed mode the game and your desktop are both rendered at all times.

Can I check what your system specification is as this may help us understand further and will allow us to get a good idea of whether this is a bug or is intended.

Either way we will get to the bottom of this for you and get you the best outcome possible.
