In the left column of File Explorer right click on Documents, just under This PC there. Go to Properties, Location. What does it say in there?

Seen a few of these now, so I've lodged a Bug Report even though I cannot duplicate it on my apparently identical MacOS installation!

Sory about that!

Sorry for that problem.

Thanks everyone, I've lodged a new bug report on this now.

If it is indeed just a matter of the wrong build being uploaded to Steam hopefully it can be fixed soon!

Please attach here the latest log from the game :

~/Library/Application Support/Surviving Mars/logs/

To find that file, in Finder do cmd-shift-G to bring up the GOTO box. In there paste ~/Library/ . You will see a /Application Support/ folder, and inside that /Surviving Mars/ and then a /logs/ folder. Please attach the latest file from in there to here by dropping it on this support ticket, or use the "Attach file" link here.

Also in Steam please click on Steam-Help-System Info, and paste everything there into a text file and attach that here

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere, and user_empire_designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have made any custom empires or races.
- "uninstall" in Steam-Stellaris
- unsubscribe from ALL mods in the Steam workshop for this game
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add stellaris.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Stellaris or Documents Stellaris locations, before installing again.

If that doesn't help:

Can you not delete them in the game Load interface?

If it is a Steam error we should be able to fix it - is that right? Maybe a screenshot will confirm it for me.

I've seen that caused by bad or outdated mods. Please try the following:

- unsubscribe from all mods
- delete the folder Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/mod/
- delete the file Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/mods_registry.json (if present)
- delete the file Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/launcher-v2.sqlite (if present)

- subscribe to a few mods
- run the game up and see if those mods are now available to you.

I hope that does it for you!

I see, I don't know why that is. I wonder if this is just you or everyone now?

Can anyone else reading this say if they get this too? Thanks!

Does this only affect colonies from before the patch? Or any new one you might start as well?

Another crash in LUA on Mac ... yet it runs fine on my iMac!

What I'd suggest is a full clean reinstall of the game:

- move any valued save games elsewhere; they are under
~/Library/Application Support/Surviving Mars/{large number}/
- "uninstall" in Steam-Surviving Mars
- unsubscribe from ALL mods in the Steam Workshop for this game
- manually delete both the ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Surviving Mars AND ~/Library/Application Support/Surviving Mars/ folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam SM or Application Support SM locations, before installing again.

Good luck!

The crashed thread is #25 in LUA, which is the scripting language in the game. Very odd! FYI the game runs fine on my iMac with 11.5.2 also.

What I'd suggest is a full clean reinstall of the game:

- move any valued save games elsewhere; they are under
~/Library/Application Support/Surviving Mars/{large number}/
- "uninstall" in Steam-Surviving Mars
- unsubscribe from ALL mods in the Steam Workshop for this game

- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.

Good luck with hthat!

Try unsubscribing from all of them, then exit the game. Reboot then access it if GFN again - can you subscribe to them okay now?

Steam writes cloud saves to a local folder .../Steam/userdata/YourSteamID#/281990/Remote/save games/ . Are the cloud save files physically there?

If so, right click on this game in your Steam Library, General. Is "keep game saves in the Steam cloud" ticked?

Sorry, this is a Steam error, is that right? If so we should probably do a clean reinstall of Steam and game, let me know if so.

Great!

You should now be on launcher 2021.7 which just came out.

Then I don't understand why what we did didn't fix it

Crusader Kings 2 is free to play on Steam now, and uses the same save system. Can you see if that game will save to cloud okay please?

Oh, and check your Steam Cloud here:

Has the game always been like this for you? Or it was okay up to some point?

In your Steam settings, is Steam Cloud Sync enabled?

Sorry, I'm a little confused now. You can't make cloud saves at all yet you say they show as broken saves?

In any case let's try a clean reinstall of Steam and game:

- move any valued save games elsewhere, and user_empire_designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have made any custom empires or races.
- "uninstall" in Steam-Stellaris
- exit the Steam app entirely
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris folders
In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Stellaris or Documents Stellaris locations, before installing again.

- delete everything in the Steam folder EXCEPT steam.exe and the SteamApps folder
- run steam.exe to rebuild all that

- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add stellaris.exe AND steam.exe to the except... Read more
