This is typically a previous other installation stuck, or a problem in the Windows update/install processes.

If you see msiexec OR Paradox Launcher running in Task manager-processes, kill it and try this launcher install again please.

If still no good, do you see Paradox Launcher v2 in the Windows Control Panel to uninstall? If so does it uninstall cleanly, or get an error doing that? You can use this MS tool to clear the stuck install/uninstall:

This is almost certainly a local issue, from your description, I'm afraid!

I take it this has not always been the case for you, with these games?

You may as well update that nVidia driver to 2024 https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
AND unload GeForce Experience if running, before starting the games.

IF that doesn't help:
Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/Europa Universalis IV/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt .

I don't know what is causing this to you then, there are no clues in those logs.

Make a new WIndows user and log into Windows with that - is it any better there?

If not, Please install and run the free utility Speccy. Send its output to a text file and attach that here, thanks.

That log shows you trying to open HOI4 rather than this game. Which doesn't matter, but it also says you are trying to run it in -openGL! Once we fix this launcher problem, you'll want to undo that setting as openGL is slow and not well tested; depending on your video system use DX9 or 11 .

We don't see any errors in those files. Exit the Steam app entirely then run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user.

Does the launcher then run okay, from any game?

Look around you here; I respond to every thread without exception. But you posted in the middle of my night; you need to account for timezones.

As to the issue, it is likely a game bug rather than something we in technical support can help with. All I can suggest is this:

- uninstall the game from the XBox

- clear the XBox cache and game files (save game data)

Launcher 2023.14 had a bug where it did not work on Linux. That bug is long fixed, the current version is 2024.2 . What launcher version are you on now?

Note that we do not support Proton or other emulations, just native Linux.

And Steam must be their native client as seen here

Sorry, the launcher is updated but won't load? Can I ask how you can tell it has updated then?

Let's see new copies of its logs, thanks.

Changing the EU4 version has no effect on whether the launcher will start. They are separate applications.

What happens if you run eu4.exe directly from File Explorer?

As to the launcher issue, Please try this:

- uninstall Paradox Launcher v2 from the Windows "Apps and features" utility, if still present.

Delete the following folders if still present:

- C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Local/Programs/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Local/Paradox Interactive/
- C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Roaming/Paradox Interactive/launcher-v2/
To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

- exit the Steam app entirely
- run steam.exe as the Windows Admin user

- run the game from the PLAY button in Steam

IF that doesn't help, in this folder are some .log files:
C:/users/{userName}/AppData/Local/Para... Read more

Please do a full **clean** re-install:

- move any valued save games elsewhere, and user empire designs.txt from /Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/ if you have made any custom empires or races.
- "uninstall" in Steam-Stellaris
- manually delete both the Steam/SteamApps/common/Stellaris AND Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris folders
- re-install game in Steam, run a Steam Verify when done.
- add stellaris.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
- start the game with no mods active and test

In particular you need to make sure there are no files or folders left under either the Steam Stellaris or Documents Stellaris locations, before installing again.

Delete the game's Documents/Paradox Interactive/Stellaris/settings.txt and pdx_settings.txt files. The launcher and game will recreate them at default settings.

Good luck!

No DLC tab means that our launcher doesn't think you own any.

There. is nothing active you ought to have to do to get them in th egame; once bought MS/Gamepass/Xbox ought to make them available in your account there, and then to our launcher.

Do they appear as owned on your Xbox account online?

Have you linked your Paradox and Xbox accounts?

Can you try a test installatiion on any other computer you might have access to?

Please try this Windows repair tool

FYI strictly speaking, the game is not supported on the Deck - yet, anyway. Only Ubuntu. That may or may not be related to your problem.

Are you using Vulkan or openGL as your renderer? Whichever one, try the other.

If that doesn't help,
Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .
From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log

Also in Steam please click on Steam-Help-System Info, and paste everything there into a text file and attach that here.

The game is failing to find the AMD video driver or card in DirectX. I see that driver is not quite up to date, so let's do a clean update and reinstall of it:

- uninstall it with this tool https://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMD-Clean-Uninstall-Utility.aspx
- reboot
- install the very latest (I think Nov or Dev 2023) from here http://support.amd.com/en-us/download
- reboot again

Good luck!

Please attach here your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/pdx_settings.txt .

And, it looks like you've chosen openGL as a renderer, is that right? If so please switch to Vulkan.

CK3 and Victoria3 do take longer to load than our older games, although 30 minutes is much longer than normal - my 2017 iMac takes between 5 and 10 minutes I'd say.

Once loaded is play speed okay?

Has it always been like this?

From your Documents/Paradox Interactive/CK3/logs/ folder, attach here system.log , error.log

Right click on ck3.exe , properties, compatibility. Tick "disable fullScreen optimisations" untick every other box in that dialog, Apply and exit.
Then in the launcher Game Settings menu, select fullScreen display mode, Vsync off, cap refresh rate at 60.

Then test with a new unmodded campaign.

If those don't help:
DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.
