Season of Discovery Phase 2 Goes Live February 8

Season of Discovery Phase 2 arrives this week. Adventurers can level from 25 to 40, earn up to 31 additional talent points, take on the challenge of Gnomeregan as a new raid dungeon, discover new runes and abilities, and more!

The Love is in the Air event has been re-imagined with fresh rewards, new quests and locations, and more!

Every year the druids of Moonglade hold a celebration of their city’s great triumph over an ancient evil. During the Lunar Festival, citizens of Azeroth have the opportunity to honor their elders by celebrating their sage wisdom, sharing in magnificent feasts…and of course, lighting fireworks.

The celebration has begun in Moonglade, and your Lunar Festival Invitation is waiting. Join in the fun by dressing up in your Lunar Festival finery, launching fireworks, and paying homage to the Elders throughout Azeroth.

To kick things off, Mischief and Magic, which first premiered in Season 5, is back with an updated ruleset and an additional map to play on. Rouge Kiriko has snuck off to the Lijiang Night Market, and it will be up to Knight Genji to figure out if she’s hiding as a firework rocket, a paper lamp, or over a dozen other possible props. Genji will have to be careful this time though, as he now takes a small amount of damage whenever he uses his melee to check a spot. Careful coordination with your teammates on where to search will be key to your success. Catching Kiriko or using your Dragonblade will help restore your health. The team that wins three rounds will be victorious.

A mysterious phenomenon is manifesting throughout the shrines of Sanctuary, enchanting them with immense and prosperous power. Dev Comment: This is our first balance patch after the launch of the Delve into Deepholm mini-set. The overall goal of the patch is to help the mini-set launch in two ways: 1) reducing the power and popularity of some of the dominant decks from before the mini-set that are continuing to see lots of play; and 2) toning down some mini-set cards that didn’t land how we wanted.

It’s too early in the new meta for buffs, but we’ll keep an eye out for those opportunities in our upcoming balance patches. Looking a little further ahead, some of the cards we’re adjusting are cards that will be rotating out of Standard with the next expansion—we'll take another look at them when the time comes to see if they should be reverted once they’re out of Standard.

To commemorate the first ringing of the Scarab Gong on January 23, 2006, players will be able to relive a portion of the Ahn’Qiraj gate opening by collecting items for turn-in. The winning faction will then be able to claim bragging rights and have their faction flag hang over the gates until the next Call of the Scarab micro-holiday event. Players who are in a different phase can speak to Rhonormu near the Scarab Gong to enter the correct event phase.

On January 18, we held a Developer Update Livestream that dug into the horrors waiting for you beneath the sands of Kehjistan in Season of the Construct, and the competitive leaderboard activity called The Gauntlet.

Associate director of community Adam Fletcher, game design manager Daniel Tanguay, quest designer Madeleine James, and lead class designer Adam Jackson spoke about the new Seneschal companion, Hazard-filled dungeons called Vaults, a new Questline, and more—all of which surfaces in Sanctuary on January 23. Additionally, the group gave a quick look at The Gauntlet and wrapped up the livestream by answering questions from the community in a Q&A session.
